The Jailer as the name implies is the guardian of the Maw, essentially Hell where only the most non-redeemable souls go to. Except it’s said that last years all souls go in the Maw which I suspect increase Sylvsue and Jailer’s powers.
With the c r a p story that blizz loves to invent.

Its hard to tell if its a new jailer or a old one. Bolvar was the jailer of the damned due to the helm of domination. Illidan basicly is one of the jailers of sargeras now, and there have been other jailers in places as well.
with 4 different covenants there will be different kind of bosses bwonsamdis boss probably being one of them. so its very possible its going to be a new character
arthas and the other damned are awaiting a horrible fate when they get defeated and sent to the shadow lands. Sylvanas has had visions of this as well. This jailer is probably keeping these damned tortured in some pocket realm. wich is why sylvanas said she would free us all and ending up backstabbing this jailer. But in the end its only to save herself from the fate she saw.
chances are we end up freeing arthas somewhere during this expansion from this jailer, because blizz does certainly love bringing old characters back

Only Arthas can overcome of the Bipolar Banshee, we need him. Sylvanas will start shaking in fear when she sees him.
Q: Is the Jailer someone that we already know that is connected to death?
A: They created the Jailer as a mysterious new figure. He is an important part to the mythology of the cosmology. He is not someone that we know, but familiar figures will be aligned with him or opposing him. He is the centerpiece villain of the expansion.

makes me wonder if elune will be one of those figures, since elune once was said to be the one true goddess. So elune certainly would be an important part to the mythology of the cosmology as well. Especially since elune got shown to have a dark part as well in bfa
I’m actually happy for it to be someone completely new. We’re running out of existing lore characters to kill and it’s getting a bit tiresome corrupting those who remain.
Although it has been stated that the Jailer is a completely new character, I will laugh so hard if their name is, ‘Sahtra’.

Guys it’s pretty clear it’s not a loa. I think he is the one who whispered to voljin and he confirmed the loan were not the ones whispering to him. He is a new entity but clearly the nathrezime and the Legion must’ve known about the jailer for a simple reason. Look at the design of the jailer and the Helm of Domination, the designs are almost identical and to top it of the jailer as a blue jem that is just barely visible on his head as well.
Ofcourse they did, afterall the Nethrazim made the Helm of Damnation, the KEY to the Shadowlands.
Its a voidlord with a name. But it is a massive Voidlord
The Reason, The void is ‘’ Evil’’ the light is ‘’ Good’’ And blizzard has been showing us that this isnt 100% True.
