To be honest i think that the changes that were announced are good but that’s my opinion, if so many are offended by these changes i guess that they can always stay in Era or go to a private server and hope that they don’t screw it up but many private servers have in the past.
I have not played WoW in 2004 or 2019 or any of the expansions Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, i know that we will get TBC so hopefully it goes to Wrath in the future, i’m excited for this to be honest. One would think that by 2024 people would have it clear in their heads that in a MMORPG it’s impossible to please everyone.
Also I’m curious, as i see people complaining about PvP servers being one faction or vastly controlled by one of the factions, how can people complain about faction balance as they did in SOD and it worked or it’s working?
People have been asking actually begging Blizzard to give them fresh servers or even servers for TBC and now that it’s coming people also complain about it?
Being a Blizzard dev must not be easy, reading feedback of people demanding this and that from a game that it’s Blizzard’s game and IP, not ours.
You may very well be right, and I do recognize that, at least on these forums, I am in a minority by not welcoming these changes. Just a comment here:
I’ve been one of those asking for fresh servers for a long time. What I wanted is fresh servers built on the 2019 formula (or at the very least, what’s on era now), with no changes to the gameplay or rules. I might very well be old and bitter, but as a long time era player this is really what I wanted, and I feel a bit let down by them dropping the news of fresh and then going “oh, and we’re going to change up things”.
I get where you are coming from and i respect your opinion but again and as so many have stated before, Blizzard can’t possibly please everyone, back in 2019 classic servers without dual spec, i’m sure people were also unhappy back then because they didn’t get what they wanted and now they are getting that… it’s, somewhat, anyone else’s turn.
I didn’t play any of the WoW content from vanilla, TBC or Wrath not even when classic came in 2019 but i always looked around the news and stuff.
Personally I’m excited for in a couple of days to dive myself into this world, it’s not the inclusion of dual spec that’s going to turn off of playing fresh.
Now with chronoboons players who are serious about raiding aren’t force to stay offline until raids, mechanics that rewards you for staying offline are cringe.
the old ranking system is the worst system for honor of all wow expansions. Now with the older classic playerbase with jobs and wife they aren’t forced anymore to either quit their job or divorce their wife for R14. griny is not bad. but things being THAT grindy is over the top.
Nobody cares if mail is instantly delivered between your own characters or not.
We have only 3 servers for all the players without layering the game won’t be playable at all.
We have only one pvp server and we can’t let it die and that’s why forced faction balance is a good thing. if the pvp server shifts either 100% horde or alliance it’s game over for pvp servers.
We’ve been mostly asking for fresh Vanilla servers and for TBC Era servers. in short we’re getting not what we asked for, but something a bit off, a bit different, and slipping a bit further away from what we asked for with each change made.
My God, stop writing in the ‘we’ form as if you are the representative of some imaginary group. Before these changes were announced, I recall a lot of posts asking for them, which were met with little to no arguments against it. Maybe you should have spoken up then. Now it’s too late, tough luck.
No need for the aggressive posting. I do know a lot of people asked for it, and I did post against it on those threads. In “we” I put a lot of people from my era community, who still schedule raids as normal and skipping fresh.
I do reallize this is Blizzard’s IP, and if this is they way they want to take the game to cater to their player base and earning money, then that’s fine. I am just happy they are keeping era up and running, such that players like myself have a place to do what we like. Of course I am disappointed about the fact that this fresh release doesn’t cater to my wishes, but such is life.
The great philosopher Jagger once said “you can’t always get what you want”. I suppose he was right.
Fresh as a word, to me at least, implies they’re starting a new cycle of the “OG” classic of 2019, with the minor changes that happened back then. Instead, they are adding more and more changes to what is called Fresh, that deviates from the meaning of the word.
Yeah it’s new Classic cycle, that is different than the previous variants, but I wouldn’t call it Fresh.
Or perhaps I’ve been misinformed and the official name is indeed Anniversary Classic, not “Fresh”?
Miscommunication in a Gartic Phone-like phenomenon in a nutshell…?
Mis- and lacking communication. Yes that is what we’re suffering from here.
I had the same connotations for Fresh - the other is remastering, seasonal, or something else but fresh.
You’re right, it is Anniversary Classic - they tried to sell is as a fresh but in reality it is a Classic + More misinformation, or as you call it garbled
Gartic Phone, the old game we may have played as kids.
Original information that gets slightly exaggerated or otherwise warped as it passes through a medium, ie players.
30th Anniversary Classic → New classic?? Fresh! —> FRESH SERVERS INCOMING, we get the OG vanilla back again! → Fresh means no retail stuff, no changes! → What do you mean we get dual spec and other changes, I don’t like it! —> Stay in Era, classic Andy/Stay in SoD/Retail!
Poor example, but thats what might be happening. Two sides who interpret the twisted, warped information in different manner.
Unfortunately for the true vanilla-like enjoyers, the original truth may be the “30th Anniversary Classic”, with no word “fresh” mentioned anywhere. Which means the 21st November release has nothing to do with the old school design.
You know the funny thing is, I did not play 2019 Classic as I missed Vanilla itemization and the true patch cycle and not being stuck on 1.12. I would still rather much prefer that, but I also know that although I played in Vanilla, I do not own it or have to be focal about it.
What changed? Well although I like TWW, I just think it is so so overly focussed on endgame content, that I miss certain things to go for this cycle of Classic. Like just being lost in a zone to level in for a whole day, where mobs can actually be dangerous and you have to think about how many mobs you pull.
It’s just an interesting mechanic to see that there is a whole layer of people seeing like Classic is resembling something that was close to vanilla, or nothing should be changed. In terms of playability, these changes are great. It has nothing to do with Classic+ or from the other perspective, for me the old classic already was nothing like the old vanilla.
I will still go for KSH and AOTC in the upcoming seasons but just on 1 char, and besides that spent my time on Ani Classic and see how far I can get in BG’s on the ranking system. In other terms, play what you want to play.
After TBC, Wotlk, Cata, SoM, SoD, Dragonflight, WW, comes the new “FreSh” lol
Truth is:
This new fresh experience can never beat original Vanilla or even 2019 re-release. If you think it can - Show me numbers one month into the game.
These changes are already dividing the community - more incoming changes in the future will further divide it.
The truth of Vanilla (original or twisted) is that the fresh feeling suffers a lot by the time BWL hits. When AQ is released is officially 100% dead → The “this time is different crowd” will be proven wrong, again.
Era beats all these - since there are no new patches, you can play at your own tempo and do whatever you want at any given time. It is the true equalizer, giving everybody an equal playing field.
But what am I saying and to whom lol - Hence why this is the 8th (OCHO) game Blizzard launches ever since and counting.
At least until I know what’s in store once the ‘seasonal’ content is over and whether or not I’d be forced to “upgrade” to Crapaclysm and beyond (instant quit) or if my character would simply be deleted, all my progress lost and the servers reset.
I have very little interest in playing WoW on borrowed time - going through all the motions of building up my character, but playing with the knowledge that I was basically playing on a timer and that everything I’d worked for would vanish at midnight.
I can see how this kind of thing might appeal to progression-focused players, but it aint for me.
Individuals having fun playing the game don’t need to show you anything.
Your lack of joy and issues with Vanilla feelings, is a you problem, not others.
If fresh is not for you, fine.
Wonderful, you made a decision no reason to argue with fresh players.
I can see changes like that coming. Surely, introducing “some changes” is a slippery slope. Look at what happened to TBC last time around - they first introduced a paid boost, then came the token… One can argue both of those are also “QoL changes”, after all they are implemented to ease the life of players who don’t want to level the old fasioned way, or farm gold by spending time. Isn’t that the definition of “quality of life”?
Ofc this is going to be true as it was the first classic they did and way more people were begging Blizzard to make official servers. Besides that, a few months after the release we had Covid.
