Why are guards now so weak?

Well still we are the slayer of gods, we should lokely be the stronger :joy:

Sometimes Lore and Gameplay have to let the other have the lead. Gameplay in that case should be leading, not lore… And I say this as someone who favors lore over gameplay most the time in every game.

There is also problem in ESO that wow doesn’t have. Combat is, to put it mildly, not good.
ESO looks good until you start to actually play it

Eh, I think it is ok. Best mix I know between skill spamming and action combat.

Only thing I hate is this “melee wiffing” or whatever the community calls it that is “required” for higher champion dungeons than the base game.

Also, from what I have encountered, ESO has a bigger toxicity problem than WoW. So that is imo a bigger problem than combat.

Well yes they do ofcourse.

But we are also among a transitioning perood where factions are dissapearing its possible we will eventually have joint cities.

The old worlds in desperate need of a update to incoprate everything thats happened since their story ended. Which i think is alot of the problem game play wise.

Which is likely what has led to this issue.

Blizzard have held on showing the past story for too long, and id love to see the world updated to show new threats and new story as theyre basically frozen moments of the past to "catch new players up on lore and how we got to DF’

Where in other games they fo this by offering cinematics in the zones where u csn see the story unfold while modernising the lands and adding onto them

366 most likely meaning they had the previous season’s bloody token gear which scales to 411 pvp ilvl. Soo, yeah, they weren’t undergeared I’m pretty sure :smile:

To be honest i played a little, but my first impression was a classic eso combat (already not good) but without things like impact from blows. That’s it, maybe casters are better idk

Guards work similar to other RPG games: They are a threat early on but once you got your gear and levels they are no match for you. When you wander into a random opposing faction encampment in while leveling in war mode the guards will one shot you but later on you one shot them. Considerig our achievements so far lorewise, I’d be actually suprised if the basic guards would pose a threat.

I guess it would be better if valiant townsguard timmy would just oneshotted powerful paladin.
I already imagine picture of townsguards killing all my army of demons including prince malchezaar, pit lord, and tyrant

To be honest, if the guards can’t cause issues to gankers in constested zones, then what is the point in having them aggro at all?

Sure, they can be there to save players from PvE threats, but in PvP they don’t provide anything.

Is it to stop people from abusing them?

Maybe its cos contested settlement PvP is the last bastion of WPvP in the game. Its were people are in large enough numbers.

It’s not so different from WoWs combat.

  1. Look with your cursor at your prefered target (in WoW you target lock)
  2. Stay in range of your skills/weapon
  3. Avoid AoE, dodge/block (distance) attacks
  4. Spam abilities, with once or twice mixing in a charged heavy attack of your chosen weapon to refill your combat resources.
  5. Heal allies or tank enemies as necessary.
  6. Repeat dealing damage til your target is dead or follow instance mechanics in boss fights.

It is basically just like Skyrim combat, with a bit of resource/MMORPG skills twist. Nothing more.
