There is absolutely no reason to do them since BFA. The moment someone hits 60, Mythic0 is possible with not that much of a challenge at all.
Gearing through Honor is way faster and more convenient than anything a Heroic can provide.
The lack of Tank and Healers queuing makes waiting times for DPS comedically long and not woth their time at all, plus the CTA Bag you get is also worth nothing.
In Cata we had our Badges to buy Heirlooms as a intend to do Heroics and the CTA Bags could contain Pets and Mounts. At a very low drop chance but it was way better than they are now.
Why are they so useless? I really miss doing Heroics like back in the day. I hope they will be worth the time someday again.
The game clearly moved away from matchmaking tools providing primary source of content and this was evident even in Warlords of Draenor (crap looking LFR sets that were just catchup gear if anything else)
Right now the game is divided into 2 categories:
-Solo content
You don’t need any group for this. Not even matchmaking in LFD. This is mainly world quests, farming, storyline quests and all sort of old content farming for achievements and cosmetics. Legion had Mage Towers, BFA had Visions, SL has Torghast. There is a clearly defined route for single player progression.
-Group content
This is everything else. Mythic dungeons with that scale in difficulty and rewards, 3 tiers of difficulty for raiding. LFR is just there to see the content once, otherwise its rewards are simply not worth the effort. You have the option to do Torghast with other players as well (Visions too), although this isn’t very optimal - there is no benefit with doing this with a friend as scaling is really harsh.
The message is clear: find a guild. A real guild, not this 1000 member c*sspool guild that functions like a green trade chat. You don’t have to commit into a mythic raiding guild that plays 20 hours a week on strict schedules. There are plenty of casual guilds that run normal and eventually HC if they’re overgeared. And they do have fun in there.
ye you can farm wins in BG’s and purchase specific 171 ilvl pieces for your lowest slots (eg where you still have ilvl 130 questing greens). You’re finally not reliant on stupid RNG. Which can’t be said about HC dungeons where you only have about 20% chance to get an item (that’s 6% chance of what you want if there are 3 items on loot table).
If anything loot drops in HC should be significantly buffed, as they are just jumpstart content, not the primary gearing route. Upgrading to 184 or raid gear is what will take time. Not gearing in baseline set.
Well yeah but… if there wasn’t LFG/LFR… we might leave a noob or two behind.
You have to remember, this game is for everyone. Be that the neckbeard that logs in for 14 hours a day or the casual businessman that only has 30mins to play a day.
Everyone needs to get their slice of the cake, the larger the target audience the more profit the game will make.
Can you imagine having to join a guild or be part of a community instead of just solo touring the entire game?
What the hell, you think this is a MMORPG or something?
I 100% get that there are people like this and its completely fine.
What I dont get is the removal of anything outside the power progression that Heroics provided (i.e. Badges for Herilooms, CTA Bags that actually have rewards)
Heroics have been the type of content where people that have never met and will never meet again and of various levels of skill mixed in together to do Achievos or just to farm out something or whatever.
This is what made WoW feel like an MMO to a lot of people and, despite the occasional “bad” groups, a lot of people had fun with them.
I play dps and healer as much as tank and I rarely has issues with the tanks. Some of them seem clueless or move at a snail pace but you can usually see that at the start of the dungeon and the best thing to do is to leave
I play every role and most of the times it doesn’t matter what role you play. At the beggining I was infuriated by random healers as they had no idea whatsoever how to heal. Both my tank friends easily outhealed them, while the dps had to die time and time again in raid wide damage.
Now I’m starting to have enough of random dps who doesn’t know how to interrupt, not ninjapull, or do more than 1.5k dps.
Never said you should. I don’t give a damn. I learnt that the group finder is a hassle, if I need something I just call a friend. Like how you should in a multiplayer game.
Becouse Blizzard recognized that LFG and also LFR are bad system for mmo game. They have been fading those system away for several expansions now. They will propably never remove them but its good thing that become absolote that fast.
But dude… that died halfway through Wotlk, when the dungeon queue system was introduced.
It’s going to sound rough, but you are reminiscing of nostalgia that’s almost 10 years old.
It’s not coming back, I know that a lot of people would prefer those systems, but those systems dragged in a new audience that would unsubscribe at the slightest challenge or any content requiring more than 30min of attention.
Activision Blizzard caters to both audiences, there is Classic and Retail. Even though some might want something inbetween.
This is good tbh. I dislike LFD and LFR, but the dungeon finder on the other hand works pretty well in connecting you with players and getting you instantly invited because you’re playing a tank.
