Introduction : It’s been around since a few month now. Horde players keeps making thread about how much they loose bg’s and what not. We, as Alliance players, also notice how we destroys Horde in BG’s. I don’t know why, they feel way less brained than before.
No matter which kind of players is it :
- Russian horde ~ They have the capacity of making a BG super-challenging sometimes. That’s good! — we win 7/10 BG’s with them.
- English horde ~ Disorganized, people quitting after the first cap or death — we win 9/10 BG’s
- French horde ~ Not much to say, Probably the worst horde players, I never experienced a loss in BG’s vs them
Sames goes for wPVP. On my server, we are farming Horde 24/7 in the Maw entrance, there is almost no fight back, they try to organize then they flee etc.
So what COULD be the problem with Horde lately ?
-
Horde is the CoOL BaD GuYs FaCtiOn. Don’t get mad, hear me out. I’ve been a 8 years Mage Undead player.
Everyone joining the game want to go horde theses days because of the trailers and many alliance pvp players switched from Alliance to horde because of the PvP movies back in the days. Let me elaborate
— First for the trailers : Sylvanas and the overall lore made Horde feels like they were the rebels of this game for YEARS while the alliance would feel like too traditional - not very spicy faction. This is backed up long time ago since the SC2 era, were the swarm was so cool. Everyone want to be the vilain in 2020 and they feel this way playing an undead or an orc. They want to be the bad guys.
— PvP movies influences : Many many many PvP movies are just undead players with dark music exploding humans / gnomes around. Feels fancy, feels bad guys, loads of people want that. Just remember Grim Total Annihilation, how much people rolled an undead rogue straight after watched it ? We players don’t want to be the good samaritan in a game where we talk about a Players vs Players environement where there is blood and war. We ALL want to be the frenzy warrior or mage that is evil and destroy the s out of the ennemy.
I think it’s been too much years where this feeling was present and contributed in a massive de-population in PvP players in Alliance, resulting in a horde slaying alliance 24/7 on most servers for the past few years, which just a few exceptions.
- Population numbers in PvP : Due to YEARS of migration / reroll from Alliance to Horde due to what I’ve just explained, the population of PvP players in Horde grealty increased and only the very elitist alliance pvp players stayed strong.
Fast forward to today :
- Horde lost Sylvanas. They doesn’t feel like the cool faction anymore
- Alliance gained Void elves, which are even more evil than Blood elves (to me this is an effort to decrease the good-samarithan look on Alliance)
- Sames goes for Iron Dwarves
- High-skilled PvP players from Horde switched to alliance for a new experience or for the racials attractions.
- Alliance has now the best core-pvp players around, small community but very well organized for BG’s, Arena and wPVP and it’s expanding lately at an incredible rate.
I also read that a few people tried to justify the alliance winning bg’s because of the mercenaries stuff but this is irrevelant. There is a minority of PvP players doing that, it’s not like all our BG’s were filled of Horde vs Horde (that would have been funny tho). Also most of people joining as Mercenaries usually get the worst stats at the end (no offense shot)
Horde is unfortunately paying the price today and will for the next expansions and is still collapsing under a flood of incessant wannabe-pvp-players that don’t really want to be the best pvp players but just wanted to be the cool rebel undead rogue like many of us.
Alliance in the other hands feels so fresh lately.
TL;DR :
Horde loose because :
- Horde has been over rated for years, now they pay the price of having an extremely low skilled pvp player base.
- Alliance has more grown-adult PvP focus, less I wAnT The ReBEl FaCtion type of content
