There are dozens of ways to get competitive amount of gold that I have never seen a single video of even though I follow the youtube channels of the major gold farmers.

Most botter knows when to sell.
Professions are beyond bonkers for the first 24-48 hours. Then they just drop off to nothing.
People in my guild made hundreds of thousands on Darkmoon trinkets. It was the one thing I missed this time around having skipped out on the first night and taking my time to hit 60.
In previous expansions I have made bank off skinning the first night. I was set on that gold alone for the rest of the expansion.
bots dont care to sell crap for 50% of price…anything sold is profit for main account . its automatic program that herbs mines skins 24/7.

Professions have been in a bad shape for sooooo long.
Use the gold for more than that. I gifted 2 friends Overwatch and got it for myself, bought Shadowlands, bought Warcraft 3 remaster and have enough in the pot waiting for Diablo 4 deluxe edition or something like that. Enjoying trading/farming in WoW can be pretty rewarding.
I don’t know about the bot situation but the material price crash was quick, I made a post about it myself on here shortly after SL launch. I suspect it had more to do with returning/new players not understanding that you just don’t need to undercut anymore to make a sale. Possibly just people with bad TSM setups as well that will post things way down to 20% dbmarket value or something. It could also be bots, I dunno.
For alchemy surely when raid week opens people will start profiting from some raid pots of some specific variety, as will cooks for feasts and then you have crafters for legendary gear etc

Honestly this is pretty good gold. Even if it was only 10k per hour. You wont find much better gold unless you boost m+ and raids / pvp etc
You can easily get around 80-100k an hour with skinning (at least on my realm). And that is one of the easier and less profitable farms…
I’m assuming that’s just a temporary deal until the market gets more of that legendary crafting leather saturation. Same thing with herbs at the launch of sl being 10x their current price etc.
