And WoD, I assume? But this has always felt like such a bad way of doing this. This punishes poor players, not the rich. Someone with millions of gold is gonna have no problem with these mounts while poor players will. And the inflation remains.
Poor players being tight on money so they’re slowly being pushed into spending 20€ on a WoW token, while rich players stay rich, so they sell their gold for gametime, which means they’ve spent (someone elses) 20€ on a month of gametime that usually goes for 13€.
People who had enough alts during legion and used the mobile app to farm it won’t ever have any gold issues again.
People who didn’t will be stuck behind, unless they invest a lot more effort into earning gold.
In general, it’s to incentivize buying and selling WoW tokens, because a single WoW token earns Blizzard up to 50% more money than a regular player buying gametime.
It’d be stupid to handle things any different, from an economical PoV. From any other PoV it’s questionable ethics at best.
Poor players have no issues with expensive mounts, they can’t afford them. Expensive rep mounts are only a few of hundreds of mounts, not really game breaking in the grander scheme of things
Because before you could not buy monthly sub with gold.
Now that you can buy your sub with gold they find these kind of ways to eat out your gold, resist.
There is been always something like that, the only different thing is that they expandend it through most of the rep mounts.
I mean, i remember the Cenario Hyppogryph wich costed 2K golds during TBC, it wasn’t really cheap during those days.
The fact is that now you can get the reps just by playing normally, during the old days you had to do specific things that “wasted” your time to get Exalted with some rep (you had to do things specifically for this single rep it wasn’t give you any upgrade while farming), so i think that they just swapped the difficulty of gettin them to Exalted with an increase of the cost of their mount. Now you get exalted by doing something that yeld you upgrade, in the past you had to chose between upgrading your gear directly or farming and getting something fancy and eventually getting a gear upgrade after the long farm
I agree rep-locked mounts shouldn’t be that expensive. The alliance griffons are 90k gold each (well, 72k once you’re exalted). 30k would already have been a huge investment for a lot of players.
I did not do insane gold farming in WoD/Legion because it felt so wrong to get a lot of gold from table mission… Now when I am getting screwed for not having enough gold I really regret not abusing WoD gold system when I had the chance.
Why they should be cheap?
Is it essential for you? Dont think so.
Are those gucci underpants essential in RL? dont think so, but if you want those pay for it.
Nah…they try to incetivize the buying of tokens. It has nothing to do with the gold from Legion. Anyway, only a hand of people are “millionaires” in WoW, while the majority of peons barely have 100-200k in their bag.
If they really wanted to “reduce Legion gold” , why they will remove the AH mount after this expansion? That’s a clear push on players to either farm like crazy or buy tokens.
