Why are rogues so tanky?

Gameplay-wise it feels good but thematically it makes no sense at all why the sneaky leather wearing class is tankier than pretty much every single plate/mail class that isnt a tank.

Between cheat death, crimson vial, feint, cloak of shadows, evasion and to a small extent numbing/atrophic poison you have to screw up REAL bad to ever die as a rogue.

Obviously the answer is simply that there is no real way to implement evasion as a proper defensive mechanic in the game due to how the game mechanics work so we just get flat defensive stuff instead that are really really strong. I do sorta miss the GW2 thief gameplay where your defense comes from the fact that you have more stamina/higher stamina recovery than other classes so you can use your dodgeroll more frequently and more freely.

Ofc this doesnt work cause wow has very different combat but I do enjoy and miss that flavor for thief here

Chill you just sound like a guy who lost in a duel to rouge and thought that we are broken
btw bro just survive the opener then they are useless
if you want a more advanced tip just stun them when they use evasion and attack from behind = no dodging attacks, for crimson use festering wounds we can’t heal that much often, feint is aoe dmg reduction only unless we take something in talent that will remove cheat death. Enjoy bro  .

Well, think about it. It’s thematic. They aren’t reducing damage taken, they’re evading, healing, etc., doing what a rogue would do to actually survive. They’re not decreasing damage taken, which means that if they didn’t use said tricks and heals they would fall easier than a plate class would. Does that mean they’re fun to fight against? Well, that’s up to the pvp fans.
