It was only Thekal and Gehennes that had insane ques, the rest of them were manageable. This is just not a good idea to lock servers like Golemagg. I can’t play with my friends.

Blizzard are completely out of touch with EU that’s why. They believed they locked Firemaw last week for example when it’s been locked for around 250 days? People from the Firemaw mega thread have been keeping track.
They put no real thought or quality control measures into any of their transfer modifications and they probably realised how much of a mess they’ve created and locked any realm with 10k raiders so it doesn’t crash and burn during Wrath so they can focus on other important issues like firing all their customer service staff and replacing them with AI.

What do you recommend, to wait until Golemagg gets unlocked and play on a dead server or quit? I don’t see how I can enjoy wotlk on a server where 30 people log in every day.
Mograine if you want progression realms and Jindo if you want Fresh. Those are your only real options. Or you may try PvE realms.
Or you may try to google some account sellers which sell accs with all servers unlocked, however this is strictly against ToS and you may be punished for doing that.
How long do you speculate Golemagg will be locked? This is the only server that interests me.
Knowing player movements from TBC and general decline in population I suspect that towards end of P1, servers will be unlocked.
However, we don’t even know how long will phases last. They lasted cca 3 months during TBC but this may not be true in Wotlk.
Optimistic guess for unlock - early November.

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about, conjecture or not.
the bulk of the population will enter in the next two weeks, as will those who have entered the pre-patch.
those who want to play WOTLK, you will have them joining the game in the next 2 weeks.
The rest will be a trickle. And bearing in mind that some of them have been on lockdown for 1 month
Firemaw has been locked for almost half a year and still is. Despite 2/5 of server left to Gehennas, the lock didn’t get removed. And Gehennas got almost 2-times as big as Firemaw with the Horde transfer.

What will likely happen is within 3 months the bigger realms will be unlocked and you’ll have to pay to transfer there, so really it’s completely upto you what you think is best.

Blizzard will unlock a locked server when its current population decreases, not when the number of new subs goes down. And I find it really hard to believe that two weeks after launch the pop on any mega realm will decrease substantially.
I made my first character on Firemaw a few weeks ago before it was locked so those people are wrong.
It has been locked for transfers I think, yes. But now it’s locked for new players too. Blizzard didn’t think it was unlocked, there are just two different types of locking going on.
Realms are locked because the amount of players playing them exceed the capacity, creating queues for players trying to log in. Therefore forcing new players to create characters on realms that are not locked.
They didn’t and I didn’t say it was locked for character creation. This thread is about transfers. They are right transfers there have been locked for around 250 days now.
The OP is being selfish, wait for the population to increase over the next few days and the threads complaining about the queues on those realms.
If there are no queues then they should think about unlocking them.
Balshaman, where we’re you earlier on your Balshaman to play on Golemagg? Before it got locked? Why do you come the last minute to expect playing on Golemagg?
