So, I’ve been diving into Solo Rated Battlegrounds (a.k.a. Blitz), and I have one big question: why are the queue times so ridiculously long?
It doesn’t seem to matter whether I queue as a DPS, Healer, or even with a friend (2-player queue). I’m constantly sitting there staring at a queue timer that’s 14 minutes or longer. What’s the deal? Is it just me, or is this happening to everyone?
Some thoughts and potential reasons I’ve considered:
Not Enough Players Queuing?
I get that this mode is relatively new, but there has to be enough people interested, right? Rated PvP players were hyped about the concept of a solo queue option, so why does it feel like there aren’t enough of us?
Healer Bottleneck?
Could this be another healer shortage problem? I know healers are often in short supply in other PvP content, but I’d assume the matchmaker would adjust somehow.
Matchmaking Issues?
Is Blizzard being overly picky about matching players of similar skill ratings or roles? If that’s the case, maybe they need to loosen the restrictions a bit to speed things up.
Time of Day?
I’ve tried queuing during peak hours and still faced similar wait times. If this is a time-of-day issue, the matchmaking algorithm might need an overhaul.
For a mode that’s supposed to be faster-paced and more accessible than traditional Rated Battlegrounds, these queue times are a major buzzkill. I’d expect to be in matches within 5-10 minutes tops, but this feels worse than queuing for a raid finder as DPS back in the day.
What’s your experience been like? Are there any fixes or improvements Blizzard could make to shorten these queue times? I really want to enjoy Blitz, but I’m losing patience waiting to even play.
Let me know what you think. Maybe if enough of us raise this issue, Blizzard will notice!
Maybe this impression was a delusion from the very beginning. It workes somehow for solo shuffle because the individual skill there has a much higher value (your own skill difference compared to the other 5 players can decide rounds on their own) than in a random BG setting where you could be the best (objective) player, it still wouldn’t matter if your team is objectively worse than the other, you’ll lose in that case. I’d assume that most more serious PvP’er avoid a game mode in which their personal impact for winning is devalued.
Part of the equation seems to be also related to queue syncing.
Often enough you get a sequence of 4-5 popups where 3 players straight up decline/don’t respond. Followed by a game where it’s very clear that they are extremely coordinated. This inherently leads to a longer-than-expected queue time.
But otherwise, they tweaked the matchmaking to have less stacking classes, more in line with MMR, etc. But obviously this has a significant downside.
im gettin queues fast actualy sometimes i do need to wait like 10 mins but sometimes i get it in like 2 3 mins 2.9 mmr 2.2cr atm started like 1 week ago again
I think it’s a combination of things. Some people are simply done with Blitz as they have gotten their rewards by now. Some have quit after being frustrated and disappointed with the game mode.
The rating gain from victories makes climbing very slow compared to the other rated pvp modes. There’s win trading going on. Duo queue makes it easier for boosters and synchronized queues. There’s a lot of RNG with what kind of players you get teamed up with, the class compositions, and maps. Too many players play it like it’s non-rated BGs and ignore objectives. You can easily fall into losing streaks and brick your MMR. I think some have dropped Blitz and instead moved over to Shuffle, where it’s usually easier to climb, and your personal skills have a bigger impact.
It’s unrewarding, BG PvP in general is unfun, the MMR/CR system is hideous, and what you can do to help your team win is very limited. Removing the PvP reward track wasn’t very clever either, in hindsight.
There is no lack of healers in Blitz bg. My q-times for healers and dps are the same. The new matchmaking is the problem. Blizzard does not want stacked classes anymore, so q-times are 3 times higher than before. Longer q-times lead to fewer people in this game mode. The the q-times get even longer. You need to play a lot to climb, but this is impossible if you need to wait 10-15 minutes on average at prime time. Outside of prime time you wait 15-30 minutes.
Because they ensured to make fairer match-ups which ends up you being in the queue for 15mins to get into YET ANOTHER WSG where the enemy has a MW monk whilst you don’t, and guess which team will win.
The game is just dead. I had like 10m queues even as healer few weeks ago and my dps were like 30 mins last week. Ive given up on healers, so I dont have updated info about this, but if healers have queues, it cant mean anything but lack of ppl to create a match in general.
And its not because its a new mode. It had from instant to few mins queues before. Its just ppl have no reason to play pvp outside of just paid entertainment fun, but pvp shockingly turned out not to be fun at first place and got no development attention, so ppl left.
Matchmaking issues are somewhat related to a dead game as well. I hate getting 200 lower mmr games than my cr is, because there is nothing to que me into, even in afternoon, evening hours. Playing higher rated char outside of like specific 3 hour window every day is literally impossible.
-It is inaccessible to new players.
-Skill makes no difference.
-It is too easy to die.
-Premades.
-Unrewarding, especially after the vault was removed.
-Blitz is treated as second class PvP by Blizzard, offering no crests and the 1400 rating requirement for gear boxes does not apply to blitz rating. It is typically one of those new game modes that have been abandoned by Blizzard directly after its introduction.
Greetings frustrated warrior, as a player who played rated bg whole DF and bg blitz since TWW i shall inform you that the closer the end of the season - the less active rated bgs become. Most of people reach their goals, thus switch to other modes (pve, 3s, shuffle etc.).
In addition to this, few weeks ago blizz provided changes to stop spec stacking in same team for a more “fair” matcmaking which also increased the queue time.
Reccomendtions - if you interested in blitz in next season you should play active from the first day of the season as long as you want because the closer season end - the longer queues you will face
Thanks for the recommendation. I guess I could chill in Classic Classic for now, and when Season 2 starts, I could try going back to Blitz. Even though, I feel like if they removed that class restriction thing, the queue times would go down.
