Come on we are in 2025 already. Why do I need to change client language to play some characters?
…what are you talking about?
I think only Russian realms require separate language. I can roll a character on English, German, French, Italian etc realms without having to do anything.
Because the Russian servers are using the Cyrillic alphabet while we are using the Latin alphabet and that is hardwired into the Servers/Launchers apparently. Don’t expect them to change that any time soon as that is only affecting people that swap between Russian and non Russian realms and it not affecting cross server play.
Probably more to do with them being their own physical entity. Just because we use the same client doesn’t make them the same. Besides they pay less. If they kept the same client you’d find a large explosion of ‘Russians’ playing WoW.
Didnt they change that a while ago? Like you have to provide proof nowadays that you moved countries if your current country is different to the one you’re registered in? Its why VPNs didnt work for Russians when Blizzard kicked them off the store after the US imposed sanctions.
I’d assume a new account.
i have seen alot of russians or should i say russian speaking playing on english servers since the sanctions on russia came into effect
Yes, why we need that for Russian. They don’t have good programmers?
But are they speaking Russian? Nearly 30 different countries use the cyrillic alphabet, only one of which is Russia.
cen dutch turk realm only thx
i can say with certainity because i sent screenshot to my russian friend and she confirmed that it was russian that they were speaking
Most people who speak english natively aren’t English!
That is why I said Russian speaking * not just Russian
Because they use a different alphabet (cyrillic) compared to the bulk of Europe which uses latin. Cyrillic is not exclusive to Russia. As Ananda pointed out it’s used in 50+ countries.
