Gear update or now “moving from remix to timeline” - action bars reset and randomized every time.
who wants that feature? Who wants to have action bars randomized by AI ever? Like what is the point?

Yeah, was pretty annoyed that my bars were completely wiped.
Thankfully I have profiles with bartender.

i dont use all those weird addons because THIS ISN’T REALLY SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN 
i will live with this but had to waste a few good minutes trying to remember where what went. i dont have other max level shamans :?

Yeah, you have my sympathies.
When I logged in, I instantly thought of the people who don’t have such add-ons.
Such a waste of time and I can’t see a good reason for it other than them not thinking about it or just not wanting to put in more effort.

I don’t use addons either and it still did reset the bars for my Remix chars.
i mean - so the same thing happened to us, no? well. ye.

Because during the transformation of the character’s data from “Remix” to “Normal”, they reset most of the settings back to their default values to ensure the procedure works ok with as little flaws as possible.
Yes, they could have done additional testing and let some flags maintain their Remix value, and see how the character would behave in “Normal”, but most likely this was not greenlit by the higher ups to save time.
So we have to suffer “recreating” our character.

My bars are being reset everytime I take a portal. This can’t be right??
WoW’s UI is degrading rapidly. This is just another example of a needlessly inconvenient UI feature.
I cannot imagine why anybody would want their action bars wiped. Their old muscle memory, though perhaps distant by that point, probably hasn’t gone anywhere.

It is infuriating, I do wish the gear upgrade system just didn’t do this and it’s worse now because every single Remixer has no set up and when I put in my new talents it forgets to stay on that profile and keeps changing it to default. I did a few characters last night then was like REEEEE will do these in stages. It’s just too much.

What we need is a Action Bar Layout Export / Import option.
I’d like to be able to just save my Action Bar layout on this character and import it on my DID Shaman alt.
Currently can’t even import the same Talents but that’s probably a bug (or maybe they just hate Shaman).
Or course there’d be gaps for race traits or trinket On Use or similar. But it would still be a good start on an alt.

I mean, remix chars had a lot of special stuff going on, so i can kinda forgive them for that one…
But it does seem to be completely unnecessary to do this on the regular gear update on old characters. It even seems unnecessary that the new gear should come already equipped on your character, would be much simpler if they just gave you one of those “right-click to open” items that contained all the new gear.
The fact that it messes with the action bars has lead me to mostly reject the gear upgrade when its availiable, which seems counter-productive for a feature like this.

I’m thankfully stupid and take lot’s of random screenshots. So I had one to work from to remake my action bar.
Though it reset some of my talents as well, and that was a lot harder to work through.
I also hoped to keep the remix gems as like, grey items to stick in the bank.
I get why some abilities would need to come off the action bar… but my mounts as well, blizzard? What gives?

I’ve geared some alts (allied races leveled to 50 for heritage armour) in Dragon Soul. You can easily clear it at 50 in starter gear and you get item level 189 gear (although the stats aren’t great as they have gem slots which you can fill with cheap +5 gems off AH if you cba).
Since I’m doing Dragon Soul a bunch of times a week anyhow for Blazing Drake it’s free gear. And it’s not far off Gear Upgrade at that level anyhow.
I hope people weren’t expecting a smooth transition from remix back to Retail…
If Blizzard can find a way to annoy people they’ll do it, and if they can’t find a way they’ll make one.

Why is your character’s background green and how do you get that?
The fact that people dont take the gear upgrade also has the side effect of a bunch of people queuing for leveling instances with badly outdated gear, which i belive was the exact thing the gear upgrade feature was meant to fix
I paid for a special green background many years ago. It was a huge waste of money, cost a fortune.
