What’s up with sod players starting their messages with “LFM/LFG” then the location?
Makes no sense. Since we all have to suffer from not having a cata style LFD tool, the correct way is to tell people first WHERE you are going. Start by listing the dungeon/raid name, then LFG or LFM. That is objectively, universally, logically, the only correct and most efficient way to do it.

How did this wrong current method get started, and why has it stuck?

The only explanation I can muster is, we didn’t have a /4 yet?
So before that people used /2 and /1 and to seperate themselves from “normal chatting” they started by saying LFx because it was -only back then- the most polite and fastest way to let the reader know, hey, this is a LFG chat, skip if you’re not interested?

But even if, why did it not change now that we have had /4 for a long time?
I mean who wants to read LFx first? Just give me the PLACE first, I wanna skip messages faster, and by seeing the name I want to go to (dungeon/raid) first, that saves me so much time.

Or is it just a “it is what it is” remnant, old habits die hard, people are too lazy to change their ways?

Me being a efficieny word that rhymes with “knot sea”, hate having to skim through chat that’s already a terrible flood of spam, reading every message like “ok LFM good, LFG good, dps, heal tank, ok good” and then at the very end read the wrong dungeon/raid.
IT IS SO STUPID.

Can you people stop doing that or give us a cata LFD tool, one that doesn’t teleport us in or out, just to let us check boxes for roles and locations, to find a group without this insane eye cancer of text spammed by everyone?

I think you are in the wrong forum section mate, SoD topics are best posted in the SoD section. General section is primarily focused on retail.

It’s a question about logic, general behaviour. Doesn’t really relate to sod,
just took this example from there. Same probably happened in retail at some point.

Can I suggest that rather than telling people they’re wrong, which can come accross as patronising or insulting, that you suggest an improvement to the status quo.
Also a degree of politeness wouldn’t go amiss, ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You’ go a long way in such discussions.

No matter how valid your point may be once you’ve gotten peoples’ backs up with such abrupt demanding of people to do it your way that you’ve lost the crowd.
It’s counter productive…

It’s giving the bad guys rope by catering to feelings over facts.
You fix things by first pointing out the facts, the problem, to get people to see it.
Then people should go “yup, that is correct, let’s do it the right way from now on”.

If my suggestion is correct, admit it, support it or don’t, and tell us why it’s wrong or not. Don’t get in my face going on about HOW I present something, stick to WHAT is being said. Jesus christ, the lack of self awareness just manifests itself always in individuals who preach about it the most.

You seem to have some underlying real world mental issues. I would suggest you deal with those first. Secondly, it was always advertised as “LFG/LFM +location” as it makes sense. Third, your name is spelled wrong.
Anyways , I’d tell you to have a nice day and have fun but judging from your reactions to the mildest form of criticism, I would assume that to be impossible. So baring that , stay sulking.

First reply were solid advice, complaints of SoD is better put in SoD section where its more relatable to more players. We have lfg tool in retail and we cant relate to the issue for the lack of it in other game modes outside of retail. I remember the lack of it in vanil 2005 and whisper hundreds of people from /who search for tank class and asking them to tank instance with a copy paste line, but now in 2024 retail I no longer need to do that if just use lfg tool for it.
