Why aren’t the four dragon flight factions in dragon flight all dragons?

90% loving DF so far. Most of the new features are bang on, gearing isn’t the grind it was, world looks great and dragon riding is epic. Dragon focused lore and plot is shaping up to be decent, a little uninspired so far maybe but I can give it time.

I just don’t understand why we Have to deal with centaurs and Eskimo walruses. We’ve come to the Dragon Isles along with 4/5 distinct flights of dragons, each of whom, could have had their own faction, zone, WQs, renown path, etc.

Bit of conflict, bit of divided loyalty, lots of scope to build towards a nice end game twist. Go bronze and get cool timey-wimey powers for your drake. Go red and get HoTs etc. It’s easy to see.

Instead I’m spending over half my time doing off topic non dragon stuff in some decidedly off theme areas with few to zero dragons.

Pretty sure I’ve seen the peaceful fishing walruses before somewhere too.

No. The box says dragons so it should be Dragons dragons and more dragons. Winning renown with different flavors of dragon, eventually getting special dragon flight powers (not gamebreaking, just fun open world stuff).

Committ to your flight this week and it’s open season on the rest with war mode. That sort of thing. It’s dragonflight. More dragon stuff please.

Tyr can appeal for calm and maybe eventually make peace but dragon factions along flight lines are the obvious renown pathways.

Dragons.

Because the 5 flights are united into the Valdrakken accord. Also I like that we have 4 differently themed factions instead of 5 recolored ones.

Yes, they’d have to avoid the lazy route of just recolouring.

Dig a bit deeper and we have Time! Life! Dreams! Magic! Being Under The Ground Most of The Time!

I mean, there’s a lot the devs could do with that without it getting Samey….

Because it is boring.

Dragons were a part of wow since vanilla.

Players don’t want an expansion with every boss in dungeons and raids is a dragons. And everything in the lands is a dragon…

It is an over used theme and doesn’t create much new encounter mechanics.

That would be very boring and repetitive. I think this time Blizzard made a good job to make the factions more distinct from each other, not just copy paste the same thing in every zone like it’s been in Legion, BFA and SL.

Please leave the Tuskarr out of this! They are one of the best races Azeroth has ever seen - in my opinion at least.

Otherwise just LET FLY!

You’ve played other expansions right? Ever since Vanilla you have side quests, different factions, other stuff going on with the main storyline.
Wether its grinding Furbolg rep in Vanilla or doing quests for Jinyu in MoP thats just how it works.

Also Tuskaar are beautiful big roly poly studmuffins and we must aid our blubbery overlords as much as possible.

Pretty much sums it up.

Having 5 factions all the same but different colours would be boring and trust me everyone would just call Blizzard lazy and cheap if they did that.

People, my people.

I’m not saying that every faction should be the same, certainly not that every dungeon or Raid boss should be a bloody dragon.

The flights all have more than enough thematic diversity to provide a range of compelling faction options and Dragons can look like whatever they want and be served by whatever they fancy anyway so there’s literally a blank canvas in terms of character models.

A bit of conflict between the flights over their differing ambitions for the newly awoken dragon isles would make for a great narrative and could include, for example, an extra layer of factionalism amongst players during regular world PvP events.

And best of all no more Ishkaar, with their damn infuriating homespun folksy wisdom and stupid teeth.
