Many of these jokes made me laugh out loud. Does everything need to be so sanitized these days so it doesn’t offend the 19th century puritan sensibilities of someone on Twitter?
I would have thought this goes without saying but they were hit with a big scandal. Many of the changes we’ve seen in warcraft have been as a result of things employees have requested/highlighted.
We don’t have to agree with all the changes that have been made but it’s not exactly a huge loss either. I am never going to remember the love rocket’s new name but it’s not going to change the fact that I own it.
Perhaps that is the innocence non-native English speakers have, as I don’t see how that joke is more offensive than any other sentences that becomes adult content only when quoted into a perverse context. In that regards, any sentences containing the word ‘milk’ would be deemed inappropriate for minors and NSFW and whatnot.
It’s important to understand that Americans are much more sensitive then the people from Europe. These jokes are harmless to us but in the US they could easily get a heartattack if someone did a /silly on them and one of these horrific jokes would enter their ears/eyes.
We need to think about our vintage European descendents and their health.
It’s a shame we don’t have our own independent European branch, like China does or however that works. A lot of these cringe worthy changes could’ve just been let be and the US office could go ahead and eat itself alive without imposing its ideologies on us.
If people get offended by these dad jokes idk what to say to be honest. I’m of the personal opinion that we shouldn’t cater to overly sensitive people in games and the media because it only creates more problems than it solves.
If theres actual harmful things then I’m in favor of removing them asap but harmless jokes? Nah, give people a break. /spit being removed is another one of those “Really?” changes they made and I doubt the majority of people got personally offended if they got spit on in game.
None of these ever bothered me. I can see how some haven’t aged well but there are some that make 0 sense in removal to me. I mean for example, “You mean I’m stuck with this hair colour?” it doesn’t work any more due to the barber so I can only assume that is why and not that they are all potentially offensive? Neh.
