Why can someone queue up for a BG with less than 100k health in patch 8.3?

I 100% believe you should be able to do the content you want to do but unfortunately having less than 100k health (less than 200k is still bad) in a 120 BG makes you worthless to your team, these players are effectively being one shot the moment they engage.

I saw a pr0t Paladin on the enemy team with 90k health, he couldn’t break through my Azeroth trait shield

I think it’d great if you could auto raise everyone’s ILVL to 380, that way these players could actually be somewhat effective? I’m sure it’s not fun for them and it’s definitely doesn’t make me feel hopeful about winning when I see several of our team severely under geared

People wanted gear to matter & some, evidently, enjoy stomping lowbies.

In my case, I don’t raid/M+, so the gear on my main is mainly from Conquest & it’s still sub-optimal, but it’s workable.
However, switching to any alts (like this one) means I’ll be joining BG’s as a lowbie & will continue to be a lowbie as I still won’t Raid/M+ & won’t have levelled up my neck/cloak or farmed the bestest essences/Azerite armour/Trinkets/CP.

It’d be better, imo, if they scaled people up/down to similar hp, but that defeats the point of making gear matter (this drastically) & farming for gear.

That said, lowbies aren’t always completely useless, if they know their spec (stealth capping bases, defending, peeling/dishing out cc’s) & I’ve no idea how scaling works, but I’d imagine lowbies would be fairly easy (mana friendly) to heal?

I prefer games where players are fairly even in terms of gear too, but I doubt anything will change until Shadowlands.

There should be a minimum ilvl to join BGs at max level, sort of like heroic dungeons have.
I don’t care if you wanna do content, you don’t get to screw up the game for 9+ other people because you’re too lazy to do a few world quests, Nazjatar intro or whatever.

For know, all you can do is let them know that you won’t carry them and refuse to play. Just stay afk in BG and make sure your team loses so they don’t get any gear from it. Encourage other people to do that as well. If we refuse to carry them, they’ll be forced to go get gear elsewhere.

If you have players that are unwilling to do some world quests to obtain at least 410 gear, they should not be allowed to enter the BG. You have to be a certain level to enter heroics through LFG so why not BG too?

Really people? Queue times are bad enough without adding an ilvl block.

What we need is players to be scaled up to a minimum ilvl in instanced PvP, say 400 or 410 (or maybe even higher), to encourage participation and allow people to be somewhat useful, instead of getting 2 shot.

stomp noobs fun dude like why not no better why train them stomp them till learn or dead

…in my experience, losses happen way more often due to bad tactics & bad attitudes than due to a lowbie.

the game needs starter gear for pvp nothing else, for example now when gear is going up from 430 to 475 or so, a new char should be able to purchase for some gold a full set of armor what is arround 420 to 425 ilvl atleast, that works for both pvp and pve.

That’s called “catchup mechanic”, which typically happens in the last patch of an expansion. Like, you know, 8.3 with the cloak questline and the relatively high item levels from random HCs.

It would be ideal if gearing up through PvP would be an option, but, well… as it isn’t in BfA, with the corruption and all, all you can do is go dungeon grinding for 415+ gear at the very least. And grind essences, of course.
BfA has a very high entry curve for instanced PvP.

yeah true, way to high pvp realy, becuse it actualy removes players from pvp now than introdcuing new ones, becuse new player or new to pvp, wont bother when thy realice they stand no chance at all.

Hear, hear.

I remember back in WoD (and the expansions preceding it), I could queue for random BGs as a freshly dinged max-level toon for the full length of the expansion and still do pretty okay. Of course, class design was also a little better back in those times, PvP wasn’t a 1-2-3-win matter.
But I digress from my main point; The difference between a fully Honor geared PvP player and a freshly dinged toon wasn’t as ludicrous as it has been in BfA. And gearing up was a steady curve you could follow instead of a slot machine simulator.

aside from the issues regarding obtaining gear - the main issue of BFA has been that lowbies are at a massive disadvantage compared to other expansions because the scaling from each patch has been insane:
Each patch meant that the max ilvl would increase by like 60ilvl, due to 4 pve difficulties and titanforging, and azerite gear + essences have even greater effect. (ofc theres no ilvl procs in 8.3, but instead theres corruption and a 3rd minor essence).
With 3 seperate gearing factors, the max dps potential between a lowbie and somebody with 460+ilvl is 60-90k dps difference

Its very sad truth tbh. And these people will never gear their chars.

Those people are pretty selfish by joining bgs with low ilvl. simple to get okey gear in two days +

True

I find it crazy that people who just hit 120 have the audacity to queue up as a healer in a bg.

Literally just asking to be trash talked

the fact theres people still joining with less than 200k hp is a real big, sad joke tbh esp when M0s’ drop 430 gear too.

What about people that want to gear by doing pvp ? You don’t see raiders having to do arenas or random bg’s to get their initial gear. They can queue into brain dead HC’s or semi aware M0’s.

How about we get some crafted pvp gear , or a starter set you can buy with pvp currency on other characters ?

These people maybe just started out with pvp. There is no rule anywhere where it says, you can’t join a bg as a freshly 120 with low ilvl. We all started with low ilvl gear. So give them a break.

You’re right, there’s not! But they shouldn’t be surprised when their team trash talks them for ruining games shrug emoji

They do that even to people with high gear, simply because they can. PvP should not be handled in the same way as PvE, where gear matters. PvP is not about gear, nor numbers and damage, but about skill and objectives.
