Why can you only join 1? There are games where you can join more than 1, and iv’e never seen a problem with it.
Can someone explain if they know the reason? Or it’s just an arbitrary number?

I bet you’re thinking that you are so smart, but it’s not even close to the same thing.
You have two hand because of biological limitations, in other words it’s not up to you to decide how many hands you are born with, it just happens. And contrary to that, there is no real limitation to how many guilds you can have aside what the devs decide.
What a dumb point honestly, how did you even think it’s the same? Please think about what you say a little more. Before you blurt out some half baked idea.

I know Guild Wars 2 allows you be part of about 5 Guilds! I never understood it. You can only Rep one at a time
Being an avid WoW player since 2004. I never got my head round it haha
is probably something old that they didnt bother to fix
at least 3 guilds would make sense
1 for friends
2nd for raiding
3rd for pvp
as you probably wouldnt do all in same guild
I THINK Guild War 2. But don’t trust me, my memory is really bad in my old age 
One guild, but many communities.
Because joining a guild is supposed to be a meaningful aspect of the game. It has lost a lot of meaning over the years already anyway, this would make it even more insignificant.
