Why can't developers ban bots in the trade chat?

I like when people are in absolute ignorance, throwing tantrums bc why not.

Then on the Other side and addon has been here since i recall pandaria, that ABSOLUTELY complies with every mandatory iteration of its API.

Im myself a sequencer of macro creator , and my pure only joy is to have people with mental and phisically disabilities play like i do ( myself just minor chronic tendinitis ).

Id hope every one here gets it.

Cheers .

More info, copy-pasting from my Discord community:

The primary functionality lost for GSE is the ability to use clickable macros, which facilitated gameplay on controllers and handheld devices. Blizzard did not specifically target GSE, but rather made changes to combat botting.

Blizzard’s bot detection improvements likely impacted how programs like GSE interact with controllers. This is because bot programs often add human-like inaccuracies, making them harder to detect. GSE’s functionality might have been exploited to create more undetectable bots. Therefore, Blizzard’s changes, intended to improve bot detection, inadvertently affected GSE’s controller compatibility.

While these changes disrupt legitimate users, they are part of necessary measures to maintain game integrity by preventing botting.

For one, Trade (Services) should be disabled by default. Newcomers enter a capital for the first time and they can’t see their own chat.
Secondly, a player needs to “prove” that they know how to manually enter and exit a channel before gaining access to Trade (Services). That way they won’t accidentally join it due to following some online guide and then be unable to leave it.
Thirdly, they need to step up with suspension of bots who advertise in Newcomer chat and then say “Oops, my bad :)” when they get called out for it.

Get “Badboy”, deals with Spam quite well.

You say it like they’d be topping meters using GSE. It’d be below average DPS for their ilvl… in which case why would you care? There’s Hekili that does a better job of improving a person’s DPS via a priority whack-a-mole bar.

Honestly, the idea of people cheering at making it dysfunctional at the detriment of physically disabled people is incredibly repulsive to me.

Unpopular opinion: Classes should be designed in a way so that pressing more buttons or performing more actions per minute has diminishing returns on performance increase. For example:

  • Autoattack or Spamming the “basic” ability of the class deals like 50% of theoretical maximum dps
  • Using 2 abilities allows for like 70% of theoretical maximum dps
  • Using 2 abilities and 1 cooldown allows for like 80% of theoretical maximum dps
  • etc.
  • Using all abilities and cooldowns allows for 100% of theoretical maximum dps

That way addons/macros like the above would not be required, and at the same time players who have amazing hand-eye coordination would still be the only ones excelling.

This change was not meant to be to the detriment of differently abled people that made fair use of the functionality, and a workaround has already been developed. You can find out more on the addon’s web page, including work-in-progress changes to improve accessibility further.

Noone here is cheering for differently abled people being not cared about. Get the full picture.

Make’s me wonder why GSE was even brought up in the first place an addon that helps so many when the thread was about bots in trade.

No, its exactly how it looks. I say it like its stupid that people have been able to use singular keys or the scroll wheel to execute a rotation.

I’m not cheering at it being made dysfunctional to the detriment of physically disabled people, you’re just reading into what I’ve said and making your own assumptions.

You can guarantee that this addon would have been mostly used by people who are physically able bodied.
