I don’t have an endless amount of gold nor do I manage a steady income stream
Now with that out of the way, I fancied trying my hand at some PvP as a change from my usual 100% PvE play. As you can imagine, it did not go well.
Getting into PvP as someone who isn’t that up on it is hard enough, learning the maps, learning the best strat, incorporating new PvP abilities, going up against people who choose PvP over PvE content BUT THEN, to top it all off, I have to obtain gear and upgrade it with the currency I use for my PvE gear? And by obtaining gear, I mean spending 10’s of thousands of gold to get them crafted.
Buy green pvp gear from AH, if you want versatility to last longer in fights. Or farm honors in BGs to buy pvp gear from vendor. You might be struggling in the beginning but you still have pve gear so you will pump a bit at least.
They have a tooltip. PvP items scale up in PvP content - honor gear goes up to 626 regardless of their pve itemlvl.
Craft low quality items as long as they are the PvP ones and dont upgrade any honor or conquest gear. It will be useless un PvE but be scaled to max as soon as you touch PvP.
You have only to choose what kind of tier set you want to have as the catalyst charges are limited, everything else can be aquired without intervening with your pve progress.
Imagine for a seccond that instead of DD in PvE you choose Tank in PvE.
You would also need a 2nd set of gear, farm it… and you would also have a 2nd set of skills and practice them… and you would also have a different roll, and you need to practice it.
I’d say that everyone does some level of PvE, even if it is just to get to max level, vs only a select part of the community choose to participate in PvP. So PvE is intrinsically built into players’ ability.
I think you’re looking for an argument where one doesn’t exist. Of course there will be different levels of ability, that isn’t what I am saying.
If you disagree with me that is fine but you literally start the game by being introduced to PvE. My point is that the entry into PvP is too restrictive.
The pvp way of gearing up has been like this since DF. I think it’s fair. You don’t have to spend too much time before you have a full set of green pvp gear, but you don’t need to level it up, unless you want to use it for pve, which is not the best because of all the versatility. Now the conquest gear is slow to get, always was, also because of Blizzard restrictions, but just pvp and you will get there.
You also don’t get gear for pve mythic entries right away, it’s something you have to gradually earn by doing various pve content.
Well, you don’t start your PvE journey being slaughtered and waiting to respawn for up to 30 seconds only to find yourself on the losing team and get barely anything from it
That is what being “exalted with the floor” means. (its a PvE term)
Look. Getting into something new always hurts. You are being slaughtered because of lack of skill. Understandably so ! It’s what happens when you do something for the 1st time.
I have began and ended my short “PvP career” multiple times. And entry level is super easy and welcoming.
The trouble begins at 1800 Rating where you need to be of certain quality to move further… And “moving further” means winning more matches than loosing. But if you stay at 50/50 (win some, loose some) you stagnate in Rating.
And PvE has the same things. You got tiers and brackets you need to overcome.
PvP alt is ez.
Just farm some BGs and youll get full honor gear. Then farm some Epic BGs and youll get max Conq points in no time.
Play Ranked Blitz too.
Dunno if its bugged or its entended that way - now you get 2% for the mount progress per win, no matter what rating you are. Just win a Blizz and +2%.
