why did blizzard remove titanforge ?
Because you think you want it, but you donât.
I think people found the RNG aspect of it pretty agitating, which added a lot more grind to getting geared.
They removed TF because they wanted to show that they listen to our feedback about stupid rng procs. Then they decided to implement a new system which has even more rng and there was no way to target and farm corruptions you needed and then few months later they added a vendor so we can finally buy corruptions we need. Oh wait no they didnt. Vendor also has rng. âWe listen to your feedbackâ the ultimate jebait
Thereâs going to be a new vendor debuff in SL called âyoinkedâ which will be applied to any player who interacts with vendors in world of warcraft. You have 50% chance of not getting item you bought. Instead vendor will spit on you and disappear.
if blizzard did it because they listened to the fans, well, they listened to the wrong ones. they listen to those who will NEVER be happy.
its the same people who wanted classic for years, and when they got it, they prefer to play retail. i know of many players who got bored of classic and came back to retail.
They always listen. Itâs true. However, they manage to find the worst ways to implement those changes. Either itâs because blizzard wants to extend gametime, they have too much pride, or just simply stupid - we donât know the exact reason, but all of those three have truth within them.
Or just, you know, they âfixâ the system later, so they can say that âhey we listened!â even though they donât give a damn. And then later they just complain that nothing can satisfy the playerbase, essentially making themselves the ultimate martyrs. And the worst part is, there are shills who feed into that delusion.
Because it encouraged you to run old content instead of moving forward⌠Guilds doing old raids, numerous difficulties including LFR for a chance of procs? Screw that.
Because asmongold kept whining about it.
End of thread.
Best decision in a long while to finally remove something like that. The ilvl made it so people came up with raider io to track someones progress since ilvl was all over the place, and it stopped from showcasing your progress in a quick glimps. Some guilds forced people to go lfr and lower rank raids to get the chance at something better, absolutely unhealthy system and just awful.
I think the system in MoP was the best.
- Could upgrade your gear two (four at the end) times with valor Points that gave a total of 10(20) ilvls to the item.
- Warforge/Thunderforge only gave 7 ilvls, so it was just a neat bonus when you got it.
I partly agree valor points indeed where the best way if you want that +5 ilvl on gear and they can direct players at what ever content they deem worthy if you want to farm them.
-i just cant see anymore thunderforge/warforge anything that has a chance of + ilvl m8.
EVERYONE hated Titanforged, but Asmon definitely pushed the change forward. Itâs a shame we got something even more unsatisfying and awful in its place.
So we sould have this godawful Corruption RNG
- Titanforge+corruption wopuld be OP
But msotly because everyone and their mother whined about casuals have a nice gear-piece with luck and God forbid someone have something they donât approve
Thatâs so funny
Donât give them ideas!.
Because players hate it when other players gets loot.
They especially hate it when that loot is an upgrade.
And in their shortsightedness the made blizzad give us a system significantly worse than what titanforging was. The only thing they needed to do was to make it so that all gear could be upgraded for a currency, and that titanforging in itself was just a free bonus.
But instead we now lost one of the main reasons to do lower difficulty content when you have exhausted the high level ones.
They thought titanforge RNG was not enough and they wanted more.
Because raiders whined.
Because some (minority really)people whined and did not feel special enough while afking in main hub. Like in real life - you see some no-name people complain in twitter and then everyone believes its what all want to happen. Nothing unusual to humans.
Oh I am damn sure I want it. I do! I do!
Or just content in general after you got what you needed.
They just killed their chances of ever getting near those Legion record sub retention numbers again.
I think the reason for that was multi layered and not that simple. Titanforging had a number of negative effects to gear progression (which corruption still has) on top of it encouraging you to run older content for the hope of getting that lucky titanforge from a trinket that will become super strong if luck is on your side.
It messed a lot with gear progression as well. Ever since Legion it always felt like if you wanted to gear for raids the best method was to spam heroic because it was easier to outgear and get the pieces you want from it. When I joined the guild I am in back near the end of Legion as a heroic raider I had little to no ilvl difference from those in the guild who were progressing mythic difficulty. There were only a few pieces of gear that could have been considered a minor upgrade when I stepped foot into one of the hardest contents available in the game, which I feel is not ideal.
It was drying up the possible recruit pool for higher difficulties. Why would you push mythic if it is easier to gear up and get comparable gear from heroic? People say that mythic raiders should do the content for the challenge, which is fine, but once we down a boss and it gets to farm status what exactly should they farm for? One of the end goals of mythic is to kill a boss, so the loot you get from it give you the boost to tackle the upcoming ones.
I also feel that the other reason is that it completely destroyed the feeling of progression on lower difficulties as well, not to mention that Blizzard had to a point design the difficulty of the raids with titanforging in mind.
In the end whatever the real reason is, Blizzard decided to remove it because it is causing problems to enough players (certainly more than just the raiding scene) to warrant a change.
