Did blizzard just not want two different races to have horses?
Where i to guess how blizzard would have answered this question, where it on Twitter, it would likely be something like this.
âThe Unicorns are sensitive to the currents of magic, after the fall of QuelâThalas and the tainting of the sunwell, most where killed, save the few which where brought with the High elves.â
Nooo poor unicorns
Maybe if pushed they would pull something on about how the gentle, nature loving creatures (in a country where the seasons are permanently frozen in summer, cant imagine how that eco system would work).
Where illfit for the new Blood elves and their pragmatic ways, representing a lost innocence or what not.
What about the Coursers from the Broken Isles?
Maybe they can start a breeding programme and make some sort of cross-breed.
Then reintroduce them to Eversong. Could help show some of the recovery process in QuelâThalas.
Sadly reports from Broken Isle state that the entire courser population has been asconded with. Witness reports claim a tide of void elves with their eyes set on the new shadowlands appearance caught all of them in a frenzied brawl while screaming. ââArgent tournament,âŚnever againââ
I think itâs spring to be exact lol
Arthas rise of the lich king chapter 20
Not allowed to send links but it should be there if you google Quelâthalas Eternal summers.
ââThe elven land, with its eternal early summersââ
Dont know if the novels are Canon though.
First they ODâd on Void magic, now theyâre poaching all the local Fauna⌠when will this end! They better not let DETHA catch them too, I donât think theyâd look kindly on them being âvolunteeredâ for a void touched makeover.
But, in all seriousness i think FĂłkaszar answered his own question here.
Blizzard probably wanted to add variety to the game at the time when bringing in a new race. Having a racial mount of an avian variety was a good way to do so and would sufficiently differentiate them from their human counterparts or any other existing playable race at the time.
Maybe itâs summer. I think Iâve heard spring in a lore video but I havenât found anything about it on the wiki.
I think they just want blue unicorns for the high elf roleplay
I prefer the birds, elves riding unicorns is just too corny.
And the birds actually have a personality.
I canât begin to tell you how much I aesthetically despise the Hawkstriders.
There is elven grace.
Then there is riding ostriches.
With none of the impressive flowing feathering that make real life ostriches elegant.
Why was this done, you may ask? A race already so beautiful had to have some ugly, then I guess Blizzard thought that, indeed, elves riding chickens would be incredibly original.
Lol what youâre talking about, those Hakstriders are elegant, fancy and have a personality. I actually respect belf players who use them.
I think that theyâre defineitly better than cliche unicorns.
âHurr durr ur opinion is different than mine so ur just wrong and my opinion is better lolâ
I am a Blood Elf player.
By the grace of the Sunwell
You can suck on your Hawkstrider.
Wow⌠youâre going for âhurr durrâ level. And no I wanted for you to try to look at them differently. But you wanted to go
Classy
Ah, the famed âno uâ card.
By beginning your provocative statement with:
I used these words:
Because they accurately described your approach.
You began by devaluing my opinion for being different, belittling it even because you disagree, then went on to prop yourself up on how much better your opinion was.
But hey, Iâll put it more amicably for you, my loving Troll; I wish you a happy day riding on your Hawkstrider!
Iâll stay on my horse, thank you very much for the concern.
Hawkstriders are fine⌠as soon as you get rid of all the organic stuff and fine-tune the design a bitâŚ
I guess what I am saying is: Mechanostriders rule!
Pretty much every argument on these forums in a nutshell
As you should! Itâs only proper for the human sub-races to adopt their mounts, too.
The Unicorns became sentient on a humanoid level and joined the Emerald Dream brawlers guild. Or something.
Blizzard will probably explain it in a similarly vague and stupid way to justify adding them as a store mount later on.
I see you share our fantasy.
