I think the main issue is whose research they were using. Dath’remar kinds caused the fall of Quel’thalas during the third war.
thats because void elfs got introduced because people kept whinin about wanting high elfs for the alliance. and in blizzards way they gave that in a way nobody wanted.
so yeah they got shoehorned in and thats why everything written around them is horrible
Because Void elfs is most retarded concept since Night Elf’s mages. There is no deep lore reasons other that “we give nelfs to Horde, how can we give belfs to Alliance”. In actual lore Void Elfs would be no different that belfs warlocks/shadow priests. Also Forsaken would welcome Void Elfs with open arms.
The simple answer is that Blizzard did not want to give the Alliance High Elves. These are their separate force with their own path once they were split as a people.
How would he have held the Void Elves?
They have knowledge of Silvermoon many of them were very competent even though they were slaves to the whispers of the Void. Only Alleria Windrunner was able to teach them to not be enslaved by the whispers of the Void.
Also with their inconvenient teleportation racial Lorthemar could not necessarily hold them ANYWHERE.
Neither Alliance or Horde have a counter to the void.
The only thing he could do is to make the Void Elves a Pariah. You see they are still very much magic junkies and always will be. The Void is just a different kind of magic for the addicts to get their fix. Which just happened to change everything about them.
There is also probably a story to set up a force against the Shadow Priest Artifact Weapon in Legion turned Knaifu Waifu for future expansions.
But yes. It was out of his control. The only thing that Lorthemar could do was to maintain the Sunwell. Without it then once again the junkie race will have to find another source to sate their addiction. Now they have the remnants of Muuru to feed upon.
I understand, night elves for the horde, blood elves for the alliance. It was clear from the very beginning of these Allied Races, that was the main intention. But, I really don’t understand the approach of many people to the lore reasons behind it.
When we talk about nightborne. Everyone criticizes Tyrande and gives lore answers. No single one real-life arguments.
When we talk about Void Elves, the discussion about lore does not exist. Everyone say the only reason for this, is giving blue players Blood elf model
I would like to explore deeper history of the Void elves and Lor’themar split, and why it’s not received as controversial as Tyrande’s relationship with Nightborne.
I think knowledge itself isn’t bad. How it is used is questioned. Dath’remar wanted to destroy Quel’thalas, Umbric wanted to prevent similar catastrophe in the future. Who knows, maybe there were other weak points of the Blood Elves hidden in his notes that they are unaware of?
Better for Lor’themar to have a little control over them, but still on his side, than to let them go wild, or worse, give the Alliance teleportation masters.
In Battle for Azeroth Void Elfs were contributing to the Alliance War effort trying to prove themselves useful.
They are not a people known for their loyalty. First they separated from their kin who remained as High Elves. Then when their Prince led them astray they turned on him. Also in Mists of Pandaria Lorthemar Theron was ACTIVELY in talks with High King Varian Wrynn to discuss the Blood Elves rejoining the Alliance, Due to one mean human they left the Alliance. Jaina Proudmoore’s pacifying Horde dissidents at Dalaran destroyed those negotiations.
How does Lorthermar address the whole ‘whispers of the void’ thing?
The Windrunner only done so with the help of Saint Walker.
The Alliance already had “teleportation masters” magecraft was offered by the High Elves when the Alliance was asked to deal with their jungle Trolls problem. Those 100 Mages then went on to teach others.
It is very simple. By the time of the exile they were simple Blood Elves that were dabbling with the Void magic and as a base of their research used Dar’Khan’s findings. This was way too much.
Also by the time Alleria visited Silvermoon, Rommath was adamant to not let anyone that had any contact with the void near the Sunwell, indicating there must have been some incident that ultimately led to Umbric’s exile.
And had it not been for Alleria’s intervention, Rommath’s prediction that Umbric and his lot would destroy themselves was correct. They may have not turned into bunch of
Void Ethereals, but still they are heavily mutated aberrations. Very similar to Felblood Elves.
Ren’dorei may have learnt how to hide their true nature by assuming the uncorrupted visage (which in my opinion is a bizmo move from Blizzard) but their blood is still purple and their true nature appears when they are in stressful situation.
Lor’themar did nothing wrong.
The other options was straigt up execution of all void elves. So he chose mercy on them instead.
Like the Void is the most dangerous force in the universe and if it wasn’t for alliance plot armor Umbric wouldn’t have survived until now.
yeah…while teh b11 usesd from classic to tbc fel, just as a resort of survival.
And that the thing- b11 uses everthing to ensure theri onw survival, even questianable method like fel, but m uh, void bad…that bs.
The whiole is stupid and suved only to slit again the b11 comm and gave allaicncw indiret h11
The void elves serve the alliance that is their whole deal Umbric tells you this straight away. Caught lying again aren’t we?
yes, because they were exicled from silevrmoon, so, why ist that now a problem if the alliance get them if the horde dint want the, tehy coud have been a usell assets in the horde asrenal but lortehamr refudes it.
So its natrue they chose the next best ally
I bet your would cry tears of blood if Thalyssra would act the same way about the Horde like Umbric does. Love me some MHP hypocrisy.
Blizzard only wanted the night elf model on the Horde and the blood elf model on the Alliance.
The only reason they coped up the personality of Umbric this much was to sate crying high elf fans who thought they were robbed by being a loud minority annoying the whole community.
Lorthemar Theron made lots of mistakes. Such as allowing Jaina Proudmoore’s act of pacifying the militants in Dalaran, to destroy negotiations of Blood Elves rejoining the Alliance.
Umbric helped to establish a void elf government. Aleeria Windrunner helped to gain and maintain sanity to not succumb to the void.
There are those among the Alliance that object to the Blood Elves rejoining the Horde. They made their choice, waged war against the Alliance. But now because these magic junkies chose to feed on Void magic we have to take these Purple Blood Elves in?
What is stopping them from returning to their Horde? They might still have friends and relatives living in Stormwind. Those who chose not to feed on the Void. So there will always be a conflict of interest.
High Elves will be a better fit with the Alliance than Purple Blood Elves.
They have always had a close relationship with the Dwarves. More specifically Wildhammer Dwarves.
You have your pretty elf model what else do you need?
Mark Kern was working for Blizzard Entertainment between 1995 and 2005. Producer for Diablo 2 and Team Lead for World of Warcraft.
In a livestream weeks ago titled: “Sweet Baby Inc Detected Founder & WOW Developer Mark Kern!”
He confirmed that in non Western markets players did not want to play Horde. So Blood Elves were introduced because they needed something pretty for the Horde. It worked as players that joined the Horde increased.
The Alliance already had pretty Elf models with the Night Elves.
This is just a cop out. Instead of having full High Elf citizenship within the Alliance now the Alliance must settle for Purple Blood Elves.
No. Quel’thalas is Horde. Deal with it.
High Elves still have a legitimate claim to Quel’thalas.
Should the Alliance back their claim then it could become contested.
Failing that perhaps they coexist like Dalaran. Alliance aligned High Elves and Horde aligned Blood Elves.
No they don’t
We will Not Join the alliance
No they shouldn’t. Belfs are a Horde race. Not a shared race, not an Alliance race. That is a Horde city. I mean, holy crap, how much do you people need to steal from belfs?
You should talk to Lorthemar Theron. He was already in discussions with High King Varian Wrynn for the Blood Elves to join the Horde.
Had Jaina Proudmoore not pacified dissidents at Dalaran at the time. Negotiations would have continued.
There was a seperation of the High Elf people. I mentioned that High Elves have a legitimate claim to Quel’Thalas.
After the Burning of Teldrassil for whatever reason the Night Elves now share their city with the Horde. Not only that but it is said that Night Elf guards will defend Horde players should they be attacked in the city.
There is a long history of friendship cooperation and even military assisstance between the High Elves and the Alliance. Many voices calling for their participation. Should this happen someday instead of finding a new home for them there is Quel’Thalas. The Alliance could even rebuild the ruined half of Silvermoon. There is a peace afterall. High Elves and Blood Elves were once the same people. So they can coexist or learn to.
Steal from Blood Elves is a bold claim.
The living of Lordaeron are often ignored. Even the line of Menethil is no more and joined the Undead.
New leaders can be chosen but their nation is long gone. The dead stole much from the living. New undead swelling their ranks.
The Void Elves at least have been trained to control the void whispers. But caution must always be maintained around these Purple Blood Elves.
