Because they didn’t have a word for the planet and at the time they were on good terms with the Draenei, they heard they were calling the planet Draenor and just adapted it into their language.
Well the Ogres and Arakkoa tell a different story. This adaption just makes the Orcs look too stupid and primitive to get the world their own name. But it seems whenever an alliance race goes they instantly claim all land as their own property.

The point I am making here that the leading race should be allowed to name the planet properly. And that was the Orcs. Draenei were retconned from natives to aliens. So by all means the naming was not in their call to make here. I did a similar thread on the US forums before and people agreed with me.
And its the Draenei´s fault, the Orcs took their name for the Planet and started to call it that too? They clearly didnt care to give the whole planet a name.
Stop letting it sound like the Draenei somehow forced the Orcs to do that…
Well according to the novel “Rise of the Horde” by Christie Golden, the Orcs had a name for Draenor in their language which simply ment “world”.
Before you, Erevien, go on about how that somehow makes the Orcs look stupid, I want to remind you, that we call our little piece of rock floating in space “Earth”.
And the reason for why the Orcs adopted the name is also given. Back when they were more or less friendly with the draenei the word “Draenor” simply jumped over to the orcish language because of trade-relationships that lasted almost 200 years.

It is the reason why the word for a place where you put your children while you go work in the english language is “kindergarden” and not “place where you put your children while you go work”. And the reason why there are so many french loanwords in the english language too and don’t get me started on the latin ones, because half of europe speaks languages that developed from latin and the other half has at least fifty loanwords from it in their languages.
Different people exist, different people trade and intermingle, different people adopt words from each others languages to better communicate with each other or just because they think it sounds nicer.
So no, the Draenei aren’t evil colonizers who wan’t to kill the orcish language with their evil schemes, the Orcs just thought the word sounded nicer and used it to better communicate with the Draenei, that is it, that’s all there is to it.
