Why did we get the worst version of tmog/appearance collecting?

Originally in MoP tmog appearances you had collected didn’t save anywhere, you had to keep the items in your bank or void storage to use their appearances for transmog.

In WoD this was updated to the system we kind of have now, everything your character can equip is stored in the appearances tab and can be used for transmog without saving the items. This lead to Warrior’s being best for tmog farming because they could use all armor classes and weapons.

In retail you have for some time now just been able to collect all the appearances you collect regardless of armor or weapon type.

NOW why do we have some weird worst version inbred child of these systems and armor appearances are locked to the main armor type of your class, and weapons are apparently free for all for whatever you can equip will be unlocked?

They deliberately designed the worst of both worlds for MoP classic, and assumably it’s how it worked through Cataclysm as well.

No. That came much later. Either DF or TWW, didn’t play in DF so don’t know, but it was definitely not a thing in SL at the very least. Warriors were limited to only being able to collect plate, just like mail users were limited to only being able to collect mail, and so on.

Quite sure it was very late retail yea. Might be even this expansion, this is why I don’t like rose tinted glasses players when they get served nearly the exact Classic version as it was back then and then whine they don’t get massively great Retail™ features with it.

Last 3-4 years falls pretty well into the “for some time now” category.

So the system sucked until lately even in retail, that’s not an excuse to implement the worst version of it.

Of course it is. It’s called Classic for a reason. It isn’t retail.

So give us the Classic version then, this is not even that.

Don’t remember if it was like that or not in MoP (was quite a while ago after all), but for example there are no enchant illusions to transmog which was absolutely what it was like in MoP. Enchant illusions became something you could transmog in WoD, which is very memorable because it caused a huge mess with that bloody tyranny appearance.

The Transmog rules are as they were in terms of what you can collect, albeit the Collection Tab is much better than original MOP that I recall. I know playing a Warrior was great from a Weapon Collection POV, as I did that for PVP and WOD CMs as they could collect almost every weapon.

I can’t say I’ve missed this version, especially with Classes changing Armor types for Plate/Mail. It’s a bit strange that everything my 38 Warrior is currently wearing is not collected.

It’s a TWW feature for all the mogs. I’d like to see it in Classic because of how useful it is but that’s pretty much not happening.

Yeah that’s for sure, but the armor thingy wasn’t a thing at least.

Gotta keep something to make retail more appealing to players after all, in case the gameplay isn’t enough to outweigh the Classic versions.

Doesn’t really impact much. Just reduces the amount of chances to get a specific transmog since you can’t do the weekly/daily runs for it on all of your different classes with different armor types.
It sucks for people who want it more streamlined, but that difference isn’t really that big and there’s the option of leveling characters for the sole purpose of farming transmogs to utilize every weekly/daily reset more than with just the characters you play.

Some people are already complaining about how there’s “nothing to do”, so transmog farming sure seems like one way to spend the time if they’ve got so much to spare. Collecting stuff is a staple for content to do outside of PvP & raids.

Personally I prefer the retail version, because the transmog farming was a pain for me. I also really miss the enchant illusions. But I still don’t want want it in MoP Classic though, too much convenience is a bad thing.

but shouldn’t there be illusions already with the current tmog system? im pretty sure WoD did have Illusions and this Version we have in MoP should be even further than hte WoD Versions in terms of collecability or atleast the state of WoD Transmog

So yeah, illusions were implemented in WoD.

You’re saying they should make it what it’s like several expansions ahead from what it was like in MoP, because the engine allows for it?

it already is more advanced than og mop, thats why im suprised illusions are not implemented atm

Yeah I’m not really happy about it either, but convenience has its downside too, so I guess the way it is now can count as a middleground. Although I’d argue it’s definitely too much to remove the restriction on armor types.
However they absolutely need to sort out the stuns in past content that people keep talking about (I haven’t tried it myself yet, so I can’t speak from personal experience), which apparently was meant to counter lvl boosting. Saw someone mention they can just remove the stuns when doing it solo while not in a group/raid, which imo is fair since those lvl boosts would still be kept under control that way.
