Im always interested in the reasons behind why people chose their race in wow, was it purely aesthetics? the lore behind the race? the racials? how armour looks on them?
Interested to hear your thoughts.
Also i chose draenei because i love their lore and architecture, a fallen from grace civilisation picking up the pieces but not forgetting the world they came from.
well i didnt really have a choice way back in vanilla (druid) but i would have chosen tauren anyways because they are one of the coolest looking races.
just love everything about them really. gear, looks, lore, one of the nicest starting zones.
True tauren are certainly one of the few races on horde which i actually like, im still suprised they are in the horde given how their lifestyle and culture is different from a lot of the other races in the horde lol
Because I loved bringing the Tauren into the fold during WCIII I always have a soft spot for the Tauren. I currently post on a Nightborne toon as that was my main when the forums changed and I stick with her for posting on the forums.
Hmm. When i first made Souldefiler I think she was a human, but over the years I’ve both race and faction changed her. But she’s been a human for about 5 years now, and she suits both my taste and my role play
I think I’ve “mained” practically every race at one point or another over the years.
I don’t stick to one main forever but jump around depending on what I feel like playing.
That said, my oldest and probably most played race is Tauren.
Why?.. I don’t know… They just look AMAZING!
I used to just play Blood Elf, I’ve always loved elves in any universe.
But ever since Z Trolls came along I’ve been hooked to them. They’re tall but not obnoxious like Taruen, and not as wide and “stacked” as Orcs.
They have amazing animations.
They look amazing in every transmog set.
I’ve really been wanting to take my Warlock to undead though. The bones used to put my off, but they’ve fixed all that now.
From the moment I made my first draenei I fell in love with the race. Their culture, zones, the music, everything is just perfect. It just feels right to play one. Hard to explain but it’s the only race that makes me feel this way and I enjoy it . Azuremyst Isle and draenor’ s version of shadowmoon valley are my most favourite zones and I love listening to the music from the zones all the time.
I started with a dwarf just after the European servers went live back in vanilla, but got a phone call from a friend saying I should check out taurens haven’t looked back
My first choice was a human warlock, that was when I first started playing the game and my friend recommended I try a lock. I was kinda dead set on alliance because that’s what he played.
I got my old account hacked and lost it. I started playing again in Cata and just made an orc warlock. Absolutely no reason whatsoever. I just decided it and it was a good decision. My friend no longer plays, so meh. I wanted to go horde.
Tauren (and HMT as I play both) began back in WCIII when they were introduced…Tauren Chieftain was my go-to hero as I mained horde. Huge cow-men swinging totems about? What’s not to like?
Also it became clear that aside from looking totally badass, there’s a rich culture underneath. Tauren aren’t simple brutes despite what their appearance might suggest and I like that. It’s very unusual to have the “big stronk race” as being relatively peace-loving and tending towards wisdom over war.
I also really like the aesthetics of their culture being based roughly around native american tribalism/shamanism, these are cultural pots often left quite unexplored within fantasy games (in terms of inspiration) so it’s really cool to have a race that heads them up a bit! Indigenous religion/spiritualism and folk religions (including shamanism) was actually my chosen area of specialty when I was a younger fellow in my university days.
These reasons are why I also like Trolls quite a lot as well because looking at Vodou/Vodun was also something I studied and researched a lot!
