Why did you hate Legion Templates when all you do now is stack Versatility

Title basically.

I’m amazed how people wanted to be able to customise their stats, only to step into Shadowlands and stack versatility. Hell it even becomes a requirement for some LFG groups especially RBGS.

It’s like complaining about Legion legendaries in WPvP only to have them in instanced PvP during SL and everyone is quiet about it now (except Master Assasin).

In Legion specs had their template set according to the spec identity and playstile.
eg: Fire mages had Crit and Mastery for obvious reasons while Arcane had haste so it can build up barrages fast, as Mark of Ally was doing absurd damage to be compensated with crit or mastery.
Same goes with countless other specs except Outlaw, that was a bad stat distribution considering how the mastery works.

Were people upset because they couldn’t max out their stats accordingly? Like that time in 8.3.5 where warlocks had 32% haste and their Fear would be a 0.8s cast?

To be honest: in my opinion, only fanatics agree with the current system as it is. And those who defend it, people who play for 6+ hours a day and enjoy stomping alts who try to gear up in battlegrounds and arena. Then call it fair due to their time invested in the game despite the skill difference.

i still dont even get where the whole versa fiasco came from. Two things should be rewarded in PVP: 1) skill 2) time. If you have skill, you will perform better than unskilled players. if you play a lot of hours, you should get better gear over time than what you have. Currently, i got 207 pvp gear in the first 2 weeks of playing pvp, and i haven’t got a single pvp upgrade since then (so the past 1.5 months). It’s like im forced to do pve just so i can get +1 ilvl each week

And even if you do PvE, since PvP gear is better you have no chances against other players no matter how good you are unless you cheese your way trough with broken convenant abilities like convoke.
Skill is completely overlapped by gear atm.

Templates are awesome for people who want to be competitive in quest gear, the rest is demagogy.
I also played BGs since Legion and I never enjoyed the game like now. Not because SL is great, but rather cuz BFA and Legion were terrible. Member 12 dps unable to kill a druid tank with a cart, eh? Corruptions? Rpals oneshotting right and left with Legion templates?

In WoW gear is skill btw. It’s a reward for time invested or for your social skills. It has been like that since Classic and many people like it that way. The majority probably?

Because no matter what blizzard does, players hate it.
Somehow we feel entitled to whine and that why we players whine on the forums.

There wont be a single XPC that will make EVERYONE happy. That cant happen :stuck_out_tongue:

I disliked templates because WoD-style gear is just cleaner. It is completely visible, you know what you are going to hit for in advance, etc. You can also pick your secondaries. (Also, the power difference in Legion was higher than in WoD. That was a big con. But that’s a side issue.)

Obviously, templates are better than no templates. Legion is better than what we have now. It’s just that WoD is even better than that.

Legion and templates makes this game enjoyable. You can play all alts, no gear matter, no grind, no gear for rating. Zero struggle and mb the best balance(if you can call it in this game). Nowdays PvP is unplayable if u don’t have stable teammates or team to play. Ranked is about sit in LFG for hours to play 1-2 games, casual PvP is about people sit AFK for gear and mass report on anyone who complaint about that. I don’t know guys, tbh, how do u play this expansion. For me it totally unplayable i just login to do some casual stuff and logout. Wait S2 to take 1800 and elite set again and hope to play more. Mb will return to play PvE, coz PvP is just a HUGE wasting of time and give zero fun. Its a work to grind rating only.

I had 4 and my templates adhered to none of those 4

That’s from corruption clownery, it’s insincere to blame anything but corruption clownery to that, corruption is gone and so is the clownery that came with it.

As a general answer;
Because I went from 4 different custom builds for purpose PVP talent AND stat spread builds, each excelling at their own intended BG objective goal to one cookiecutter build which was worse at everything then each of those individual builds from WoD into legion which made me stop caring about PVP alltogether
Currently we still have 3 stats that you can fill in as you want depending on what gear you get, you’d see that reduced to 0

Gear should be on there, this is still an MMORPG
RPGs have always been gear dependent, PVE or PVP.
This isn’t a MOBA

PvP is sessional content what u talking about? Its not raids. Gear shouldn’t matter or matter much less here. U not login and q for PvP match to struggle when sm1 :poop: on you cuz he have better gear.

I don’t just log in to q for pvp, it’s one of the things I do but I don’t leave it at that
And yeah you take it to the teeth and wait till you have gear yourself, this is how its always been

As for it being seasonal, so is PvE, what’s your point? It’s all just inherently tied to the major content patches

Thats why half of subs gone? Its not 2004 year, time changes. There is can’t be thing a long time. Games now are more sessional.

Subs are gone for many reasons. But templates kill raiding and guilds are the backbone of subs. Cuz you may not like the patch or even the addon, but you stay subbed for your guild and your friends. Session games are easy come and easy go. Even M+ doesn’t form bonds strong enough to make people play together for years. I hope Blizz got their lesson with templates and it’s seriously gone.

Because templates gave players no reason to do arena, legion and bfa i was waiting forever (5-10 mins) in queues at 2.4k.

now in shadowlands I wait 5-20 seconds on average, because people are playing to achieve better gear and maybe glad.

I think from the 40% Versa bonus from the pvp trinkts. It makes versa the most potent stat by far in terms of survivability and for some classes even DPS.

The bonus from having two PVP trinkets does not even apply to the damage reduction component.

oh lol, I haven’t even paid attention to that xD

I think you’re forgetting 3) Effort 4) Trying to do the objectives 5) Helping others 6) Working as a team to win the BG, etc… I don’t have skill, and I have done plenty of time. And yet my BG success is not what it should be, and I will probably never have ‘skill’.

I don’t think skill should matter as much as honest effort, because not everyone can be or become skilled. If you just do the objectives in a very basic way, that should be enough.

Only boosters and trash no life players living in mums basement who farmed gear so they can “outplay” other ppl with ilvl didnt like teamplates

that is what i meant by time mate. time invested in doing pvp. even if you have zero skill if you spend your days trying in pvp you should be able to progress at least in terms of gear
