Every expansion, or every time they update spell graphics, i constantly wish and dream for that lovely frost & fire aesthetically pleasing spell to once again be reimplemented into the game.
Why Blizzard do you deny mages such a wonderful spell. I’d even use it if it were the worst tool in the arsenal.
Because the ability is fundamentally designed to accomodate a frost/fire hybrid build in the talent system…
… which Blizzard made impossible in the expansion after the ability was added by firing the guy responsible for it and the talent system, then switching to the “you must commit to this tree first” then followed by the new talent system.
“Frost and fire doesn’t make sense huehuehue” was actually their official reason back when it happened.
Then I remember sometime in Legion seeing Frostfire in other areas.
Yeah Mages are either fire or frost… not really both anymore.
And the removal of Hybrid specs occurred around 3.3, mainly because more people were getting wise to the crazy dps, or burst they could cause from unintended talent interactions… and blizzard just decided it was impossible to balance.
I can remember PuG groups with my rogue in ToC and Onyxia and being pulled up by my really odd spec… until they saw me pulling way more dps… XD
Yea, I have just started leveling a Frost Mage. Not only do I have a Fire spell in my spellbook, it also does decent damage so I pretty much use it on cooldown.
This is weird and really breaks the Frost theme my mage has.
They also all have portals, and arcane intelligence, and time warp which are all arcane magic spells… but they can still only specialize in one or the other.
Fireblast / Frostbolt are spells that compliment your main toolkit in frost or fire respectively… but frostfire bolt was much more of a main defining ability… that made sense when you could cross spec, but must less so now.
Mila Kunis and Henry Caville play WoW. Maybe if we could get them to back our desire to have this fancy spell brought back, WoW will listen to the millions of us desiring it.
