I don’t hate the expansion. I thought the cinematic was kind of interesting, and the talent trees look interesting.

I would say that players love elves more. It’s hard to find current data, but the last one I came across from 2020 indicated that elves are over 30% of all characters. To be clear, we are only talking about two races (there are also allied races).
This probably should make you realize why there are so many elves in this game.

Well yer, Blood elves were the only Paladin race that wasn’t a cow for a good while. And the go to 'pretty race of the horde
Nigh elves were the only Druids for even longer alliance side.
Lift the class restrictions you will probably see allot more paladins walking around in something other than Red and gold.
No offence there to any belf palis.
Regardless, Gimme a fat dragon character, I don’t want to be a knife ear. I wana be a brute!

Considering that dragons can take the form of anything in the lore then the new dragon dudes playable race should be able to pick any playable race as their base humanoid form. Then again that would probably be too much work for current Blizzard to implement.

Not at all, just restrict the AMOUNT of customisation that’s not directly this new race.
All you need to do is make, 3-4 scale options. And 3-4 horn types.
Orcs/maghar Dwarf/darkiron, Drenei/lightforged, The cows, Bloodelf/voidelf (can just copy paste from these guys c’mon now)
Lots of the races are copy paste of each other you can just copy paste their textures between the two. Colors are just opening up photoshop and messing with the hue sliders. You make 1 scale color overlay you can turn it into all 5 aspects with a few clicks.
Think of them like Deathknight skins.
Everyone got there own undead skins for those guys, same thing. Just with a scale overlay that can go in a tattoo layer. Only thing that would be specific is making modelled horns, and I don’t think people would be to mad if you just had a few universal ones for now.
No, These guys are using blood elf skeletons, Night elf and bloodelves have there own rig sets so the guys are literally blood elf reskins. And the Women are Human females.
blood elves are like 20% of this game’s audience why are you surprised
