The racial has been nerfed. Several times, if I recall.
“Pop Star” elves are now playable on Alliance after a short time farming Argussian Reach reputation, giving Blood Elves a soft route to playing Alliance.
Paladins can now be Zandalari. I can sympathize not wanting to play a Tauren Paladin (nothing against Tauren as a race, but Tauren Paladins are as ridiculous now as they were back in Cataclysm). So this renders Blood Elf Paladins obsolete.
Alliance have Stormwind, Boralaus, ect which my Blood Elves friends…ahem acquiescences…have cited they would rather have “pretty cities” to stand about in their transmogs rather than any care about lore integrity.
Can anyone fill me in on this? I don’t understand what is the purpose of Blood Elves. I have been away from the game for a while, perhaps I am missing something.
I have a belf pala because of TBC it was the only pala class on our side. Since I hate leveling I just kept this one. So why would I go through all the pain and misery and lose all titles because now there is a Zandalari troll?
If I was an alliance I would have a human paladin for sure. I think many players have a belf (especially female) for the ‘sexy’ transmogs. And let’s be honest, most sets look best on human / blood elf. Except warlocks ets.
Its because of the appearance i guess, void elves are kinda smiliar, yet for some people theyre too much into “emo” theme, Also theres lots of people who actually have those characters and theyre kinda bound to them for several reasons begging with such things like achievements or reputations ending at emotional bounds with the character throu lazyness in case of leveling or paying for a race or faction change, this Way we have lots of belves, yet they numbers throu years should a Little bit reduce, not that much, but still, and even then they gonna remain as one of the most popular races i the horde.
Its an “eye candy” race(extremely subjective I know).
So ofc some people will favour that over some smelly walking corpse who has some fingers and a part of a jaw missing(note. I AM NOT trying to insult them undead players. If you like what you look like. The thumbs up for you. We all play the game how we like :D)
Pretty much for player balance, that was the only reason they were added into the Horde in the first place. Blizzard even admitted as much as after the Chinese poll of some guy who couldn’t get his girlfriend to be Horde because there were no “pretty” races they got the Blood Elves to join them.
Now almost 50% of Horde players max are Blood Elves, what has the Horde become… xd.
It’s been 12 long years since The Burning Crusade. I remember when they announced Blood Elves on the Horde, I was one of the first to the forums claiming that this would be a good thing and would balance the realms from being 75% Alliance - 25% Horde to something close to 50%/50%.
How young and stupid I was back then.
I am a man who can admit when he is wrong.
Can’t the Alliance take them back?
It’ll solve the faction imbalance issues, majority of Blood Elves would rather be Alliance than Horde anyway, and the majority of non-elven Horde races would rather be killing elves. We will have Night Elves, Void Elves, Blood Elves and potentially High Elves in the future.
It’s win-win-win, everyone will be happy. Well not everybody…but I know I would be!
I feel like there were better ways in balancing the factions then the way they did it, but I guess that is talking from the meta knowledge we have.
They basically just wanted to easiest way to do it. I remember the old forums where there was massive outrage over the fact that the Horde got Blood Elves but not most of that rage has transitioned to High Elves.
As much as the story sucks now TBC lore was awful, much worse. The number of changes they did to it just so the Blood Elves could actually join the Horde to begin will still affect the game now and annoys the hell out of me.
Retconned the Blood Elves from all going with Kael to like 15% of their surviving population, Kael being hit with the villain bat as he would have never joined the Horde, Zul’jin and the Amani being shafted, some forced Night Elf-Blood Elf tension which came out of nowhere (especially when Kael and Tyrande worked together in Warcraft 3 without any tension, like there was none to begin with and was just made up to give more reasons for them to join the Horde), a complete lack of development on the fact that the Horde ravaged most of Quel’thalas in the second war, the Alliance for some reason being really hostile with them by sending in spies and the list goes on and on and on.
I wonder what Warcraft 3 reforged will do with changing the lore and if they will make High/Blood Elves be a lot more hostile with the Alliance to try and cover up the fact that it really makes no sense.
You mean like how the night elves are in the alliance and not there own faction or how gnomes did not exist really before wow?
Or how the forsaken is not there own faction.
