Why do i feel so incredibly weak?

So i’m trying to level as a mage in the AV event and it feels like i’m incredibly weak. Every class destroys me, interrupts hardcounter me and i can’t escape those damn overpowered demon hunters :\

Why does mage feel so low-power?

Because you’re fighting demonhunters

Even with 50% healing reduction they are hard to kill

Mind you, i don’t volentarily pvp. But since it’s the best and most efficient way to leve, the AV’s are mandatory. Wicked Overpowered, those demonhunters…!

As a whole, Mages feel incomplete until they’re level capped.

  • Arcane is great at low levels since most of its power isn’t locked behind high-level abilities, talents or azerite traits, I can’t attest to it’s power in PvP however.
  • Fire is utter trash until you’re capped, heavily geared, have very specific azerite traits and the Mechagon bracers.
  • Frost relies heavily on Mastery: Icicles, which you don’t get until level 78, which both empowers your Frozen Orb and causes Frostbolt and Flurry to generate additional stored damage. It is also quite dependent on azerite traits.

I really hope they fix some of this stuff with Shadowlands new leveling system, stuff like masteries should be available early on, like level 10/20 because some specs are stupidly dependent on them.

Great thing about Arcane is that their main attack Arcane Blast got no projectile, so you can just try to hide while blowing away their health without necessarily grabbing their attention. At least in Korrak’s revenge.

You have four blinks, spammable slow, arcane barrage with +50% speed burst, aoe snare and sheep. Learn to play.

Because you’re probably face tanking melee’s and failing to kite properly. Yeah, surprise, mages aren’t very tanky. That doesn’t mean they’re weak, but it does mean that there is a little bit more that goes into things than just button smashing.

Jesus guys, he’s level 77, leveling through Korrak’s Revenge.

Why are you acting like he’s capped and fully geared but still sucking?

Because most people are, and it wasn’t implicitly stated that he was still leveling (yes, the character he’s posting on is level 77, but a lot of people post on their alts). On top of that, AV is not Korrak’s revenge, and I did not think about anything else apart from him saying that mages are weak because, well, he doesn’t know how to play yet. It’s actually the only real way to respond to threads like these, because they’re not seeking actual conversation.

He explicitly states: -

People can genuinely be asking for help, read carefully instead of jumping to conclusions.

Does not change the fact that demon hunters are the most unfun crap to fight against i would rather fight against wotlk pre patch DK’s and ret paladins or rogues on their peak any day than demon hunters which have almost ruined the pvp completely.

Because low level Korrak PvP combat balance itself is way better than max level PvP. I started to play Korrak at level 60 Fire spec and I could kill anyone.

Its mental that lower level PvP is better than max where all Azerite and raid bs items are allowed.

Arcane is insane and untouchable at lower levels by melee. Its good time for him/her to learn how arcane works.

Well, it certainly exposes elitist people like emberius and papudeath. Jeeeeez…
I just feel like i’m doing comparitively very little to no damage and people effortlessly seem to catch up with me. I’ve only got two blinks and that’s with talents. I feel like i want to play this mage, but also that i’m never gonna get anywhere decent…since it feels like argent dawn is dead PVE-wise :\

Avoid 1v1, mage is hard to play 1v1 yet very powerful when done right.

Best spec for big bgs is frost, take concentrated coolness and the talent that have a chance to freeze targets everytime you chill them.

Stick with the attacking pack then then when you run into the big group of other guys use put a frozen orb on their heads, pet freeze them in place and chuck a blizzard on there heads too. You’ll annoy them more than kill them but you will cause enough chaos for your other players to take advantage of and make their healers burn through mana too.

Disclaimer: You will pee them off so much that they make an extra effort to kill that friggin frost mage!

Fires ok when greater pyro is unlocked but players don’t tend to stay in range for 4 seconds, shimmering at the last moment of the cast can help but might get you killed.

Who ever tought that creating a tanky dps class with high mobillity and great survivabillity and utillity could be overpowered in PvP? Therefor they made them easy to play so everyone can have one?
