Why do people buy dungeon and raid runs?

I really don’t understand. I don’t understand what’s fun about being handheld through a dungeon or raid by people you’ve paid to do it for you.

People want mounts/pets/achievements/toys etc

They do not care how they get it and are happy to pay someone else.

Because dungeons and raids drop stuff that people want. Like the Mount for killing N’Zoth on Heroic. Have fun pugging that.

How these things works?
If you pay in advance, the guy may not carry you through the raid.
If he carry you first, then you could not pay him at all.

I’ve always wondered the same. Blizzard won’t help you out in a case of being scammed right?

Check out your boosters, if you don’t want to get ripped off use a reputable guild or an organisation like Oblivion or Gallywix who have proven track records and lots of satisfied customers. They have price lists on their discords/websites etc.

Even if I check their reputation, cant I still rip them off? Or they demand payment upfront?

And how exactly is N’Zoth HC a problem? I kill him with PUG since the first week without too much trouble if any. It’s much easier as M+15 in a PUG and even that is not a really big deal.

You pay before, they aren’t stupid.

It’s also to avoid pugging if you are not part of a large guild that commits to these activities.
I used to actively raid through WoD and Legion, when my guild fell apart in BfA I was left to pugging.
Pugging can really be nightmarish and taxing…so I’ve decided I’d hoard gold and just grab a boost from trusted sources and rid myself of stress and time-waste.

I only buy a boost with gold when Blizzard have a timed mount. I quit serious raiding years ago as I just like doing random casual stuff now. I refuse to pug with randoms as it’s always toxic. If the mounts wheren’t timed. I would just wait years when I can solo it.

Still sounds silly to me. It’s like buying trophy for winning Olympics - it doesn’t mean anything and it’s worthless itself.

You buy access in pugs for future runs

Loot, achievements, rio score - hardly nothing. Besides, there’s a whole lot of people paying for it, so it’s got to be worth something to them.

Can this be considered as adverstising illegal services in General forums?

Buying boosts for gold is not illegal.

Send them to Gulag for exploiting AH and other hard working herb/ore/nudemog farmers!

Well, killing N’zoth on heroic gives you an unique mount that is a timed reward, and boosts for that boss are quite cheap now (150k). Most people could probably afford that assuming they’re smart with their gold, and pugging heroic n’zoth is not the easiest thing for everyone, especially if you don’t really care about raiding but still want the mount.

Am I personally bothered that some people get boosted through the content that I have to progress through for example on mythic? Not really. All I care about is my own performance, and how I achieve things. I don’t care if someone bought a full mythic boost (which would be quite expensive, by the way). Getting that gold is a challenge in itself, unless you bought wow tokens. Then again, you could just buy gold without them anyway from gold farmers, so it’s not like it makes a difference.
