Why do "reflect damage" effects suck nowadays?

Back in WoD, I remember playing Windwalker in random BGs. We had as much HP as we do now in Dragonflight.

I would charge into 5 players, Touch of Karma the target, and all players would hit me. Touch of Karma would hit for 35k per tick.
Hitting a Monk during ToK was really something you didn’t want to do.

Now?

  • Touch of Karma
  • Thorns
  • Diffuse Magic
  • Counterstrike totem

They hit like wet noodles.
You can’t even punish bad players with these, they zugzug through them with no penalty.

What happened?

This was actually nasty for BfA, I remember dying to it when a druid popped it.

Now, no idea. These backlashes were mostly good in the old game, when you stacked Ret Aura, Thorns, Fire Shield and whatnot to deal tons of passive damage.

On-proc backlashes like Skullflame Shield are meh imo

Yes if something is a permanent aura it shouldn’t nuke the enemy player.

But you should get absolutely demolished if you hit through Karma and Counterstrike totem.

It’s not the case, these spells are useless.
