Why do so many casters insist on using knockbacks in dungeons?

As someone who frequently tank different types of content, this really irritates me. You work hard with positioning, interrupts etc to stack the mobs up for aoe/cleave, then someone comes and ruins it all by knocking them away again with spells like Typhoon, Blast Wave or Thunderstorm. I mean, even if you want to use them for damage (there are better aoe damage spells), atleast have the decency to get the appropriate glyph to remove the knockback effect. For the group as a whole, knockback is in most situations a net negative since it ruins mob positioning for both tanks and melees.

Personally, the only time I run Typhoon unglyphed on my main moonkin is if I’m on add duty on Saurfang. Otherwise, it’s not that good of a spell at all.

Because they’re good damage spells (cant speak for Typhoon though) - people just don’t realize that there are glyphs to remove the knock back effects.

It is sooo annoying, not only for a tank. It ruins the AoE for most other classes - Mage with flamestrike/blizzard or shadowpriest or… yeah… pretty much any.

Blast Wave is pretty good if you’re specced into the talent that gives instant Flamestrike. Not very smart running it unglyphed though since you might make your Flamestrike miss targets if they’re spread out, hehe. I haven’t played elemental for some time, but is it really that good damage for PvE? I remember it being used more for returning some mana (glyphed).

As for Typhoon, I feel it’s almost useless for damage. You’re probably better off either casting single target spells, or just using Hurricane if there’s enough mobs. The only time I’d ever consider using Typhoon for damage is if I need to move and have refreshed both dots on the target already. For pure parsing, I don’t even specc into Typhoon and instead pick something that increases my juicy single target damage.

Well, I wouldnt say you should run into a pack specifically to cast Thunderstorm - you use it mainly for mana, as you said, but you can cast it on a pack if you’re running up to a pack to drop Magma Totem.

I used to use my Thunderstorm (without glyph) to yeet mobs back to the tank/main group if they used Disengage (like the ‘‘Bowmen’’ in HoL), or to get something away from myself or healer. I get madlad when I see people knock mobs away otherwise.

They’re completely noobs, and you should not ask them for anything because you joined to a random group where everyone have its own style of playing and interest.

You can also add to your argument ppl who dont interrupt, not hide to go away of los, ret.ardeds who pull because DPS DPS DPS and “I’m better”, and so on.

But that’s enable and allowed because RDF have that virtue: freedom for everything.

Do you want to know what is the best fix for that bunch of problems? Remove RDF and make every player to be usefull for the whole group they join.

EDIT

PPL who joins as healer but they’re DDs, who wants every item dropped, druids who wants cloth when mage is looking for it, ppl who joins and stays afk for a few minutes, premades of 3 who kicks the one cause “potatoes”, etc.

Game is full of bad players.

EDIT 2

PPL who can give buffs to the group but whatever, DKs who can grip the farthest mob to the group but “who knows”, DKs DD who plays in frost pressence (really annoying), …

Game is so full of real bad players. I bet they left retail thinking the classic is easier than.
