The males are hideously disproportioned and the females, while looking somehow decent, still have the most stupid and annoying idle animations and spell casting animation out of all races. I’d rather play a dwarf female than a nelf.
Yet I see more than half of alliance players as night elves. Do their horrible animations not bother them? Do they find the waist to shoulder ratio of males acceptable?
There are so many good looking alliance races with nice animations like draenei, void elves, humans, heck I find even worgen animations less annoying than a night elf’s.
So why do you people play night elves?
Yes, this is coming from a Kul Tiran male, which I find way better looking than a nelf by the way.
They love to be murderers and bigots.
Night elves are responsible for pretty much everything that happened after the trolls saved Azeroth.

Night elves try to kill all the trolls and phone in the legion
Not everyone wants to play hideous gnomes or boring to the death humans… or boring to the death fat humans. Or short bearded humans called Dwarves,
so Space goats, wolfies and Elves remains
For two thirds of Night Elf players the male animations are not an issue because we’re playing female Night Elves. The reasons for that should perhaps be more obvious…
This is all a matter of personal preference and perception. Reasons could be different, some prefer the lore, others looks or certain classes (DH) etc.
It all boils down to what you like, if positives outweigh the negatives it is likely you are going to play that race (subjectively).
