Seriously, I haven seen anybody use wands in a pretty long time. The only thing they do is kind of make random treasure chests/tokens a bit worse. How would you buff wands?
Also can we get some more 1hand axes and classes/specs that can use them.
Hitachi knows. 
Transmogs is the only reason I can see currently.

Daggers and wands with the correct offhand can give way better intellect than a staff. They can look pretty cool especially the ones I use that act as a torch illuminating the ground in dark areas and with the dreadful night feature we have in the game. I am bathed in a circle of light as I walk around with it hanging by my side.
Just like a staff though you never actually use the thing, its just there for the stats and trust me some of them with the offhand are very good.
My mages generally have wands equipped. The character I am currently levelling only uses a wand. Important to transmog the offhand as a stick/staff so it stays hidden. Also a mage in pants/trowsers with a Katana looks real Kill Bill. The staff and the robe is real old now especially with all the grey stuff available… Daggers and wands look way better with the look.

Sort of, but mine are quite bad I believe.
By now they are worthless - they were only used as weapons during leveling up to TBC, after which only healers used them as a mana-free attack in dungeons or raids during downtime. (As every spell had a mana cost, and players had a weak mana regen.)
Funnily enough, Lesser and Greater Magic Wand at level were OP weapons - WoWItsHard’s vid on classic leveling shows a priest ditching their spellbook to wand enemies. Our spells back then were just so worthless. I wouldn’t level any other way either - just do a mind blast and wand away.
But anyways…
I’ve never really counted my primaries - it was rare I had a 1H + OH and a 2H for comparison - but if that’s really a thing, it’s great for minmaxers. For those who just want to maintain a single weapon, staves are better. Nothing more annoying than finding a powerful 1H that’s worthless without an offhand. 
If you have a spare level 35 for lower dungeons or better 45 to do all the dungeons up to WoD and do WoD Mythic plus the raids and save all the wands, daggers and offhand you are lucky to find that are bound on equip, happens at times, for use with levelling chars that you push through the ranks. Also save the offhands that get dropped along the way as you level. Some of the offhand have amazing stats and can be used with both daggers and wands. Combined they punch a real packet.
You need some of the smaller pieces though so they don’t look silly. Items can be very small to invisible as with the full size offhand sticks which don’t appear for transmog purposes.
