Why do we need a third dwarf race?

Why do we need a third dwarf race for the next update? Dracthyr was ok, something new, but more dwarves? Couldn’t ogres be written into the story or whatever?

There is only one race of dwarves that I accept and that is the original dwarves.

Lazyness thats why.
They could not even make the hair into crystals and just kept the hair… hair makes very little sense for a race that did not get infected by the curse of flesh but pff why even care about lore when blizzard dont care themselfs.

And just for a possible future Allied race:
Harronir they are just Night Elves with tusks…

Because there is no such thing as too many dwarves. Dwarves are superior to all. All Alliance races should just be dwarves. Keep yer feet on the ground!

A Dwarf complaining about more Dwarfs?
Something’s not quite right

Yep. And looking at every other fantasy race we have already in WoW there are really only anthropomorphic races left…

There is a fine line between a humanoid beast and a full blown furry/scalie.

Drakonids are clearly still dragons with humanoid features. Drak’thyr on the other hand came straight out of deviantart.

You people are either acting obtuse or trolling. A tauren or a worgen is still miles away from a vulpera in terms of furriness.

We don’t.

I don’t think anybody asked for giving us the ability to play Earthern, especially not on the horde side.

The models do look cool though, but I can think of plenty of other races they could’ve added.

In point of fact, I might like to point out that all the original character models are now 10 years old, with Pandaren being 12 years old. I’d rather have had them start to update those than adding another race. Fortunately they mostly just need some uprezzing and not a completely fundamental overhaul.

I do have to admit I am getting pretty resentful about the state of Pandaren, and I’ve been saying it perhaps a bit more than I should have these last few days. The reality is that we now have mounts with more customization options than a Pandaren female. In fact, Moonkins have more customization options than a Pandaren female. That’s really not very cool.

I would much rather have the Earthen as some sort of bonus racial option for Dwarves. Maybe even the start of rolling reskinned races back into their regular options (eg. Orcs and Mag’har Orcs, Gnomes and Mechanomes, etc).

Playable Earthen doesn’t help the faction balance. Pandaren and Dracythr are acceptable, as are Void Elves and Nightbourne, because they balance out the two factions.

As it is, the Horde are now getting Dwarves. Not the worst thing as I wanted something like that in the past, but it’s still just… lopsided. And even if we were to balance it out, what options are there to then “give to the Alliance” anyway?

Earthen are just not the right neutral race for BOTH factions to have. If it had always been Earthen and Mechagoblins then that’d be perfect, but sadly that was not the starting dynamic.

Oh, let us pull the checklist.

Vulpera: Talks like a human, is covered in fur, a beast race.

Tauren: Talks like a human, is covered in fur, a beast race.

Worgen: Talks like a human, is covered in fur, a beast race (when in their beast form).

All of them are pretty furry to me, mate.

Was just browsing the Pandaren customisation in preparation for the upcoming Timerunning event. The models are not the worst but there could be some great potential for new jewelry, facial hair and even fur patterns. Not sure what else though.

It’s such a shame why we can’t pin down the devs and have an open, live explanation as to why they are pushing Earthen and not model updates. I’d be worried we’d never get such clarification and even if we did, it’d be vague and corporate.

Like I said, you’re being obtuse.

Actually they are awful; you won’t notice at first but now that I tell you: Turn the character sideways and look carefully at the separation between neck and head. There’s a giant nasty texturing error there - a seam, and below the head the texture resolution is also much lower than above it. It looks really bad.

That wasn’t there when Pandaren were originally added. It came later - I don’t know when, but it’s here now and it’s been driving us all mad for 6 years or more. They don’t care.

And it’s not just that - for example Moonkins have 4 different facial structures, Pandaren females have 1.

I’m not angry about moonkins don’t get me wrong, but I think it’s really sad that Pandaren are just being left out to this degree.

Nah, man, if you are going to call any one race at all a “furry” then you must include Pandaren, Vulpera, Tauren and Worgen.

You’re focusing on one type of furry stereotype - the “small and cute” anthropomorphized animal. A furry really just is any anthropomorphized animal OC if the creator leans into it.

And be “lean” I mean “gets really weird”, if you get what I mean!

Oh jeez, yeah, I see it. yeah, it looks like really bad scar tissue across the back of their necks! Well, that’d have annoyed me greatly but luckily I am planing to use some of the scarf things from the Trading Post, if previous transmog options are allowed.

But yeah, still, that’s just one thing on a list of issues that would be much better addressed than adding another Dwarf race! Some belts clip into male Pandaren paunches, I’ve seen.

The fact that Druids have been getting some many awesome new forms in another argument for ditching the Earthen project; Shamans need updates on their totems and spirit forms. Death Knights could do with some pet customisation too. Warlocks, despite getting some customisations recently, could actually have their “ready” stance fixed!

They currently pose like Mages when targeting an enemy, instead of a Warlock.

The difference is how you’re viewing the races culturally. Tauren and Worgen are easy to understand outside of the context of furry culture; they are mdoelled on the minotaur taken a bit further, and the werewolf myths.

The same cannot be said for the other beast races. Pandaren are an obsession from Samwise, and while I am not part of the furry fandom, being a feral druid for many years got me close to A LOT of people who are, and my impression is that panda furries are quite rare, unlike foxes, wolves, cats, deer, etc. which are common.

And so, when they add Pandaren there was a reaction against the cuteness (rightfully so, they do not look like Samwise drew them!), but there was no accusations of furry fandom - but when they add a fox race that doesn’t have quite the same aura of traditional european mythology and is common in the furry fandom… well, there’s a furry race.

It’s funny, because it implies that the people who complain about furry races know quite a bit about furries.

With earthen being taller than dwarves, having stone skin in a variety of colours including red and blue, having shiny metalic wires for hair, and gemstones sticking out of their body and armor, they do stand apart from regular dwarves and could not have just been customisation options.

I was not impressed with earthen when they were first revealed.
But now that alpha is out and we can see what they have to offer, i think theyre fantastic.

I honestly think i might main one right now.

I’ve been looking at many furry cringe compilations and I never saw a furry done a werewolf outfit nor a bull like creature; a minotaur.

Guess which race does fit the bill.

No the difference is, those races weren’t tailored to be cute and friendly like Vulpera. Those races don’t look like they come straight out of a furry convention.
