Seems a waste of time to me.
Before, back in the day, I got a sea turtle for my troubles.
I had stopped but now I’ve fallen off the wagon.
So I wonder, is there a reason to do this or is it just a “thing”?
I used to find it relaxing and good for cooking but these days it has gone a little too convolated for my taste. Though that’s pretty much all the professions.
It’s kind of relaxing to do while listening/watching something on the side.
Because the fish can’t hurt my feelings.
Never have, never will!
I like foraging, that’s why I do it. But I don’t cook the fish because that’s too complicated. I need other stuff, etc, and what I produce is worthless, so I just don’t. But I would, if I could just get right to it: Roast the fish. And then maybe I had found some potatoes: Roast fish and boiled potatoes. Like that it should be, in my opinion.
You can get a gold coin of the isles at the dragon isles.
it costs 75 copper coins, unless you happen to find a silver coin, or even a gold coin, but you won’t so 75 copper coins.
and then you buy a sac with it, that may have a pair of toy glasses. It’s like 50%. So if it’s fail, you start over.
And then, having gotten the glasses, you gonna do a lot of obscure stuff; including dancing for 5 minutes at a very specific place. the instructions are quite detailed.
having fulfilled all the requirements, you will then get an otter mount that has dark glasses. which is funny. it’s just that i have absolutely no sense of humor and don’t want that thing anyway as i find it is immersion breaking.
I do it from time to time in classic. Mostly just to chill and sell my catch on the ah.
In retail I haven’t done it since I grinded for the ratstallion
Sometimes for achievement, and every Saturday for the Mereldar derby.
But going around Blood in the Water in Hallowfall and catching Kaheti Slum Sharks is also good income, right now they go for more than 400g a piece at the AH.
So you can make a few coins on it?
I’m selling but I haven’t looked at the prices yet.
I wanted to win the special fishing pole from Stranglethorn, but it was too tough. I gave up after having had a perfect run and still lost. Was thinking of trying again, is it as hot as it was?
This, it was vanil thing. Dont see use for it in retail
For me retail is for afking in soloqs and vanil was for playing mmo. I wouldnt level in stranglethorn vale and waste 2 days from leveling for pvping people in the zone either in retail, I just afk in town waiting dungeon.
Afk in town waiting soloq for pvp when max lvl, fishing is as irrelevant at this point to me as anything else in the game that I cant feel connected with in anykind of level at all, couldnt be more disconnected from the immersion of the game really
I fish when I’m too tired to do something actually useful in real life or fun in game, and listen to music while doing it. Fishing on a peaceful lake listening to jazz rock is zen.
Il like to chill and fish.
Hope they make more fish as an cooking ingridient.
And that sometimes i can fish out a pet turtle or some gear.
I dont recall i ever fished for that mount? Wasnt it just a bunch of pvping underground?
yea, right. I played a few bgs but I’m just getting into the game so I’m leveling a few alts rn.
Thing is I do feel disconnected. The bgs always did that too. It’s not a world then.
But to the point: With fishing and gathering, I do feel connected. I feel it’s what I do. I go around, I have a mission, and that’s foraging. If I find a school of fish I harvest it, and then I harvest any node nearby. Move and… do that. It makes me feel connected with the game.
I’m not sure how it’s useful though, but it makes sense to me. I suppose I got enough gold for something. But that’s not really what I’m looking for.
You’re looking for the fight. And so was I. Maybe I got old but… I could fight, sure. Thing is that the bgs is a preparation to fight, for me. We don’t have any objectives and we don’t have a common goal, it’s all just practice with nothing real to get. Arenas is a bit different but… An arena should be open, spectated and planned. It should be a standing event that anyone could visit and see, that’s an arena and there you could make a name for yourself. With this it’s more… 3v3 mini-game, not an arena.
It’s an mmo but it doesn’t feel like it. Why not like… There’s spectator spots for purchase, always, until they’re out? So the best in the world starts the fight and… there’s a hundred viewers! Wouldn’t that be some kind of small step towards actual esport or? They wanted that, so why aren’t they doing it?
Anyway, I super digress… Sorry. I just lash onto:
“I feel disconnected.”
I feel that too. I don’t feel we’re doing things together in the world.
That’s my disconnect. And my reconnect is the herbs, the mines and the fish, cause it happens in the world and I accept, and prefer, being alone doing it, but I appreciate when someone is seen once in a while. It makes sense to me, the game like that.
Well they removed everything from the game that make it feel as mmo in pvp, so its just afk simulator now and no reason to make any friends or talk to anybody. Theres even guild to joke about it “in que for solo shuffle” or something
I fish for unsavoury reasons >.>
Like those… but unsavoury
its a fish with max stack 20 and turns you into salty pirate or a ninja
You need to loot 20k Sightless Eyes which you can get from several sources in Dalaran Sewers. Most known source is from killing other players but among other ways, you can also get them from fishing down there.
It’s a lot slower and mindnumbing though.
