Alliance Bias did exist because they had to endure Erevien in there BG matches when it was faction locked.
Those arenāt real leaders just very poor replacements.
You praise Sylvannas. More Horde died under Sylvannas reign as Warchief than any other Warchief in the Hordeās history. Including the wars they fought.
Leaders unite people. You might not like them but getting rid of them will divide the Hordeā¦Leave it weak.
I mostly disliked BfA. It had some saving graces, but overall it was massive wasted potential.
Iāll start from the good parts.
I like conflict between factions becuase it gives spotlight to lots of playable races. Everybody has something to do, and that is always good.
Separate questing experience. To see what story one side has, and what has another side. It is good for the game like this where there is 2 faction system, and itās encouraging players to try both sides.
playable Zandalari and Dark Irons.
So with that being said - I really disliked how the entire plot was taken. I am not surprised that Warchief Sylvanas turned into total disaster, the moment I saw her in Legion cienamatic I knew we would have repeat of Garrosh plot but worse.
so weāre already in bad start that an expansion that will have Zandalari wonāt have VolāJin in it. And I was looking forward to confrontation between VolāJin and Rastakhan.
Another issue is that around half of the stuff that Zandalari are supposed to have, didnāt have. There was not a TalāDrak, there was no academy for arcanital and chroncilers where the Zandalari scholars were meant to record their history, Iād love if the first raid was similar to Caverns of time where we visit major past events, like Aquir wars for raid.
And for dungeon scenario where trolls fight against nelves and achieve phyrric victory, and where Zanza could add 3 cents.
Speaking of which, Zanza the restless was the very first Zandalari loa ever introduced to game. I was looking forward to seeing him again and dissing elves. But that didnāt happen. Not only he was demoted to lesser loa for some strange reason but he didnāt have any real imprint on the story.
Then we have Rastakhan - He was wonderful as a personality. But why in over 200 years he didnāt have a family? Where is his wife? Where are his other children? Youāre telling me that only recently he decided to have a kid? Iām not buying it at all. I would rather have proper royal family, and Talanji to be special becuase she is the youngest and his only daughter.
The Nazmir disaster - who the ook thoguht it was good idea to put in the middle of Zandalar bunch of irrdeemable savage trolls AND titan facility?
Not only that the blood trolls are the second reference to the book āHeart of Darknessā by Joseph Conrad, - first time it appeared in STV in Kurzen Camp. Heck, the zone with Uldir is also named āHeart of Darknessā. What is wrong with you Blizzard? Was that really what came to your mind when you thought of Zandalar?
Supposed peak of Troll civilization? A society of scholars and priests? āLetās throw some grotesque blood trolls there that cannibalize each other!ā. My goodnessā¦
And that Titan facility- apparently troll style isnāt troll style anymore (although I donāt know anymore becuase Shadowlands predate Azeroth, and Other Side was made by Muehāzala and there was troll architecture too, so who knows anymore).
And apparently Zandalari - the scholars of the troll kind never bothered to research that thing. They were able to check plenty of things over the span of thousands of years, EXCEPT the thing they literally sit on.
Why Nazmir wasnāt about a zone that was just hit by cataclysm and ongoing invasion? Why not have KulāTirans attack the Zandalari to use opportiunity that theyāre weakened and seize dominance over the seas?
Why not have Rastakhan having his hands full, and having to be forced to trust the Horde becuase he has to deal with invasions from KulāTirans, Naga and trying to fix the country after Cataclysm. That in my book would be enough. But no, he has a threat right under his nose, and he doesnāt check it and believes his council members.
And likewise Kathrine Proudmore wouldnāt look like incompetent leader that didnāt do anything when ships disappeared. That was also very dumb plot. Make her her use the ships instead! Use it to attack! Sieze the moment! Make Alliance be on the offence for once and Horde on the defence!
Then we have references to movies, books, and some older stuff from classic āmember that time when we killed bunch of trolls in ZulāFarrak? Yeah, letās repeat that sheetā.
Or Wakanda, or having joke character in Rambo during serious questline and having Shandris fawn over him. I have nothing against joke characters but they should be in the corner of the zone for a small funny questline that wouldnāt disturb overarching plot.
Zandalari has plenty of gold but no goldmine, theyāre naval faction but they have no shipyards. In fact they donāt even occupy half of their territory. Who thought it was a good idea? It was a massive disappointment for me. I was expecting the level of detail that Pandaria had, where each zone was rich in pandaren lore, where you had Valley of 4 winds that was all about farmlands, why not show us in each zone how Zandalari live. Show different castes. The farmers and breeders that are the foundation of the country, and then going up the ranks.
Then we have Rezan - amazing. Holy T-rex for paladins, I couldnāt come up with better idea. Aaaaaand heās gone. Why? Why would you do that? Are you insane?
Rastakhan died patch later. Great. So many years of waiting to meet this guy, and you also kill him immediately. He is one of the few characters that deserved redemption story imo. Why would you kill off such a fun guy? Iād love to see him around being boastful and full of life. He was radiating a positive energy.
Then we have Propet Zul- great guy, charismatic, cunning, sly and ambitious. And he turned out to be traitor and blood slug worshipper. Apparently he was always cray-cray and a goon of the slug. Not simply overambitious agent on his own that has his own agenda. I was expecting that he had to be dealt with, but the way they handled him was ā¦ughh.
Why Danuser (edit: lmao, I meant Nathanos Blightcaller) was literally everywhere? In the same patch he was meant to be in Darkshore saying āWe will keep this ground, for the Hordeā and then he flees with tail between his legs to Zuldazar and robbing Rokhan from his confrontation with Jaina. Rokhan who was there to kill her father, who actually has a history with her unlike Nathanos. So I was very salty about it.
Otherwise Rokhan was done really well for someone who was previously a blank dull slate. They picked a wonderful voice actor for him, and imo he was MVP in this expansion, he tried to make best decisions given the situation he was in. Too bad his story was cut short.
Then we have Sethrak and Vulpera- on their own theyāre not bad additions, but I donāt think they fit Zandalar, especially Vulpera. Sethrak being a long living race and creating empire within the Zandalar is another bizzare decision the developers made and imo another lorelol.
This is how Zandalar was weakened, they got lots of stuff that they were not meant to have, and lots of stuff that they were meant to have were not provided.
Then we have the Alliance side, mostly it was done well, except Kathrine plot, and the missing fleet, and the whole Stormsong valley stuff, It was clear that there was some cut content, as the Rexxar was speaking about some artifact that never made it to the game, and stuff Jaina supposedl did that we never witnessed. I think Brenndan was overdone, and another example how devs constantly went overboard to villainbat Horde. When I believe it was about time that Alliance did something like that to the Horde, Iād rather have this kind of plot in Nazmir with Alliance joining in to be a threat to Zandalar.
I think the devs went to fast with Nāzoth path. And the Azshara stuff was undercooked. I think she couldāve been the final boss of the expansion.
I donāt think BfA shouldāve been about total war escalation, I think it would be enough if it was KulāTiras vs Zandalar, add pirates, naga and you have fun expansion with reasonable conflict.
I donāt think Teldrassil was even needed, All it should take should be silithus escalation and forms of sabotage in both factions to reach out to KāT/Zandalar.
So yeah, I am mostly upset on the wasted potential, some really strange decisions, and overall mess. It had itās good parts but I wish there was more atention put to details. And some story decidsions were imo artrocious.
Getting rid of them to kill all traitors that made peace with the true enemy.
