Why does Blizzard hate casuals?

Whoever is in charge of game development really has it in for casuals.

  1. In WOD you could craft 3X 700ilev pieces and obtain 700ilev gear from Ashran around the time of Blackrock Foundry – All this gone now. All you get now is to craft a legendary that is a total grind and which you used to get as well as your crafted pieces.

  2. In BFA you got Mythic raid level gear for doing +10s, now gone to +15s following QQ from the usual 1% of epeen. You also got a heroic piece for rollfle stomping a few horde and running that night elf place weekly. Again removed from casual players.

  3. Raids and dungeons used to have a couple of mechanics on a boss, you certainly didn’t feel like you were dancing gangnam style avoiding stuff on the ground and unable to stand still for even a couple of seconds, not to mention the myriad of other gimmicks added in.

  4. LFR Loot should be at least 10ilevs higher, it is so bad only Sylvanus is worth doing, and even then only a couple of times. So a big get lost to half the player base there. Of course this goes back to MOP when again those with Epeen complained there were half decent tier sets and trinkets in LFR and those filthy casuals shouldn’t have them.

Now Blizzard might wonder why their trade channels were full of boosters, they were full because it was the only way for a casual player to obtain decent heroic raid level gear or high M+ while not making WOW their second job.

By banning boosts Blizzard now has removed the last avenue for the non-elite casual player to get a bit of gear, and has finally ring-fenced everything of any value in the game solely for the privilege of professional e-sport players. Ironically now the only ones getting gear will be the very players who will boast about not even needing it and how casuals should be clearing the normal raid in their birthday suit while using their fists without even a weapon equipped, because they did so.

So why do they want to treat casual players, most of whom pay real money for subs and tokens, like the absolute dirt on the floor, and only make gear available to them that is the equivalent of crumbs from the table? It boggles the mind

It’s life open world gear is crap, deal with it

Not to mention removing titanforging. Which gave casuals a once in a lifetime chance to maybe get a piece of gear that would be decent, considering how the rates were low anyway. I still miss it. That and the legion legendaries. It gave me a reason to do all content, and I did not had to spent over 100k + so I can get one single legendary on one single alt. Not to mention that some can cost like 500k on some servers ( I really pity whoever plays on such servers  )

I think they are just a bit thick to be honest. I mean what kind of dimwits sacrifices the health of their game just to pander to a tiny minority of people who actually like the crappy esports design they are trying to push.

Journey for gear ended when they added mythic+ in legion, it’s now all about mythic+ and timer.

For someone who’s casual you’ve spent over 12 hours spamming the same message.

I’ve written a few five min pieces over 12 hours while working and or on the phone for work. Fast typist. And yeah, I’m also very tee’d off at the state of things in WOW for non e-sports professionals right now.

As long as they pay money, why would Blizzard hate ANY casual player, of any franchise?

OK; I’ll stop pandering to the anti-capitalists…

Those that have the least love for casual-approach to playing are those who end up Grouped with casual-approach players, when they’re hardcoring through the game the only way they know how… usually because their time is too GD precious to make a full Group of their own for the content they’re playing & they “get stuck with a casual rando.” from RGF.

100% agree with the OP.

Nah, it’s because people are too lazy to learn their class and took the easy way out by getting boosted. It’s like using cheats or a walkthrough in a single-player game and then tell people you beat the game.

I’ve seen terrible players get better over time because they put some time in into learning their rotations, their class abilities, their strengths/weaknesses and be able to hold themselves in Heroics and M+, some even started Mythic raiding.

You don’t need to play 24/7 to be able to get Ahead of the Curve or your weekly Mythic+ 10-15 done. If they found the time to level up to max level on one or multiple characters, surely they can find time to run dungeons for gear and learn their class.

It’s just that they don’t want to go through all that and just pay for a skip. It’s a lazy man’s excuse to blame it on being casual or not having “enough time to play”.

If you don’t have enough time to play the game to fully get what you want, perhaps you should play games like Overwatch or Call of Duty instead, where it doesn’t matter how much time you have.

Hey! Don’t drag me and other players who enjoy casual content into your pro-boosting propaganda. I hate boosting. Just speak for yourself.

I’m not necessarily against alternative gearing paths, but let’s not pretend BFA had a good system. The Warfront welfare epics were the most egregious, they were very high item level for trivial content that could even be AFK’d, and it was like once every 2 weeks, so if you were unlucky enough to get it into a slot where you already had one… well, try again next time. Such bad design.

Crafting should definitely be improved, though. Imagine if HC raid level gear could be crafted from mats dropped in raids, possibly including even previous raids (in this case, Castle Nathria), giving some purpose to run those places. Right now it’s almost impossible to find a group to Nathria, and for those looking for the legendary memories… it’s bad.

Just play the game. Gear is just a bonus alongside the adventure itself. With greater adventure comes greater rewards. But all of the adventures are fun let it be easy or challenging ones.

You also make a fair share of in-game friends by overcoming challenges together. But people rather leave after one wipe and get boosted because they’re lazy and impatient.

This is me, and I’m happy to see them go.

I dont treat wow as my second job, still have 250ilvl gear from m+.

Rather crying, how about people finally start to learn play and get better in it?

Everyone started the game at the bottom at one point.

The game is leaning back into being a game, and if people are that desperate then go beg a guild to let you in.

The boost news has a few anti-WoW heavy discords I am in actually speaking positive on the game.

Wait is it true that you got mythic ilvl by playing +10? Why did I skip BFA?? What a let down BFA must be a casual heaven in comparison to shadowlands :frowning:
