And US always has a day headstart?
They dont always beat US. And NA haa a âheadstartâ because you knowâŚits called timezones. Even if the maintenances would be on the same day for the next tier this would occur.
They donât always win but EU has some guilds like echo that rlly analyze the fight and craft strategies that are rlly the best of the best tbh, also EU guilds have the tenacity, discipline to keep going. I am rlly happy that method is 2nd they deserve it because building a new team and competing in WF isnât easy I hope they see this as a reward and not as owkey we are second.
Because guns and burgers donât equate to skill.
EU surely has a larger recruitment pool for hardcore raiders given the social safety nets & more favorable view towards video gaming from a young age in Europe. Many of these top raiders - at least in their earlier days - seem to hide behind the guise of education to play ungodly hours; no wonder they are very good! This is easier to do if the state is paying for your university âeducationâ. What if you were paying ÂŁ60,000 a year for your education - would you neglect it?
Same situation with the RWF event itself - how many Americans could take 3-4 weeks off work each tier, given the average annual leave days is something like 10 days per year? This is far more achievable in the EU with their hefty annual leave allowances.
lol, sounds like some USA socialism scaremongering propaganda.
WoWâs no longer played by âcollegeâ kids, they grew up. For some gaming is their job.
Yeah⌠they become the beta testers
For some, yes it is their job. But how many? Do you think everyone in the top 10 guilds are raiding full time for an income?
Call it propaganda all you like, but there is a difference between cultures in the US and the EU which enables people to 1. become skilled enough to compete in the RWF and 2. actually commit multiple weeks fulltime per tier to a RWF.
Before I go into my analysis i want to say that Echo and Method both have did a great job this raid tier, finishing #1 and #2. Now on to the analysisâŚ
Liquid had many issues from the start. First they were running splits 2 entire weeks before RWF started, which tired out their players even more, not to mention they had many foreign players who had flown from Europe to play in the States, which lead to those players missing home. Liquid also had a much longer streaming and play schedule than Echo and it seemed fewer breaks. Lastly, Liquid lost one player due to also being in the WOW Arena Cup and another who left for personal reasons.
Echo and Method mostly have European players and its easier to travel in Europe as its not as large as the States, plus they did were not running splits as early as Liquid did. Echo stopped streaming early during the last week of the race, so their players could rest and had more breaks than Liquid had. I also think it helped Method that they were playing from their own homes, as people feel more mentally sound in their own home than living away for almost 3 weeks in a hotel. Of course this did not affect Echo much, but Stripe did state that some of the Echo players were getting tired and ready to go as well.
I also want to point out that Echo is in a much better position than Liquid. Echo is comprised of most of Methods old raiding team. These players know each other well and have played together for years, so they are and will be a pretty strong team, remember Methodâs long line of RWF 1st achievements in the past. Liquid seems as if they are in rebuild stage and a bit lost.
Generally most of their income will come from sponsorships, just like real sports stars. Realistically only a few guilds have a chance of world first so any another guild would be foolish to no-life it.
yes, and unfortunately the UK is likely to follow down the path of the USA in the coming years.
Even European employers have their limits. I suspect that they took most of their annual leave entitlement to follow this dream, for those that have to work âproper jobsâ.
It would be an interesting article to find out how these people survive financially on during these âracesâ.
Many of the players make money off TWITCH streaming as well, not just sponsorships.
In case anyone is interested Method did a timeline of the RWF winners over the years.
You can see who won what and what country they were from.
It works through all the expansions.
Limits won the four or so races so hardly always eu
