Why does Sylvanas not recruit Necromancers?

As the title goes; why does Sylvanas not have a program, initiative or organization of Necromancers?

As we see in quests and dialogue, Sylvanas views the continuation of the Forsaken as important, and because undead cannot procreate, Necromancy is the only solution to this problem.

To this end, Sylvanas employs Valkyrs, and she appears to be a very capable Necromancer herself at the Battle of Lordaeron. But why does she limit herself to this alone?

Her Valkyr; while very powerful necromancers; are few in number, therefore they cannot be everywhere, and the destruction of just one of them is a great blow to the Forsaken. Surely then the logical solution to counteract these weaknesses is to have a larger core of a bit weaker but more numerous Necromancers.

The lack of Necromancers is obviously not due to any moral qualms, as Sylvanas employs the Royal Apothecary and is willing to inflict horrific and exceedingly painful deaths on her enemies(both soldiers and civilians).

So is the lack of Necromancers in Forsaken society more a sign of a cultural aversion to Necromancy in the hands of ‘normal people’? Does Sylvanas fear that if she began employing Necromancers that this could result in a terrible pushback from her followers as she continued to remove the differences between herself and the Lich King?

Because 99% of the necormancers on Azeroth are part of the Cult of the Damned that despises the Forsaken.

I seriously doubt it. I really don’t think that Forsaken consider anything too vile to deploy if useful at this point

Probably necromancers cannot raise sentient undead. Not enough power.

My idea is that all necromancers were willing followers of Arthas so they weren’t exactly able to use “we were mind controlled!” explanation.

And they are probably only capable of raising shambling corpses, without thinking capacities, anyway.

Necromancers are, at least most of them if we talk about the CotD, living traitors to the kingdom of Lordaeron who exchanged their loyality to mankind in order for immortality and became willing servants of the literal Lich King. Forsaken hate the Scourge obviously and do not want to have living Beings as part of their dark kingdom. Also, Free will is the corner stone of the Forsaken Society. Mindless Ghouls and zombies aren’t part of Forsaken forces for this exact reason. They want soldiers, not braindead trash forcers. That’s why they have the Valkyr for.

Why Sylvanas doesn’t recruit Deathlords :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, yes. It is very important to keep in mind this undeniable truth.

No doubts here. Nyah. None.

I am so happy you mentioned this undisputable fact.

There is no mindcontrol involved until Blizzard says otherwise.

…Monstrosities? And we learned in Zul’drak that not even the scourge’s ghouls were mindless.

No freedom either, though. “Serve or die” is slavery, and putting people under a drug-like state to send them to do things they never wanted to do is arguably worse. Not to mention lobotomised servants…

What do you mean? I just said so. I completely agreed. I have ZERO doubts and arguments against that. NONE.

I can smell the cocky attitude of sarcasm on you.

Just ask Derek. No mind control at all.

This is your subjective opinion!

I agree so much with this free will that it almost hurts. God, how much I agree!

Ye, it is getting to the point where you might as well recruit every possible evil thing into your faction xd.

Aren’t we already at this point with the Val’kyr?

Well Val’kyr and San’layn so far.

What other Scourge forces could join you? Only Cultists and Necromancers I guess.

But if we are talking about evil factions then I am sure the Twilight Hammer will join you at this point, Mantid, Fel Orcs etc… xd.

Don’t insult the Mantid. The Klaxxi were one of the coolest things out of MoP.

See council of Black Harvest and playable Warlocks. That’s more than enough.
