Now hold up just a second!
A never-ending horde of white knights?
I am the only white knight on this forum! I have slaved away for the past 16 years for that title. And now you claim thereâs a horde of white knights on the Arena forum?! I will gladly challenge anyone else on the merit of being a white knight, becauseâŠ
Jokes asideâŠ
Thereâs no crime in anyone coming to the realization that they are enjoying themselves and having fun with PvP in Shadowlands as it appears. That does not make anyone a white knight. The bar for that title is set a bit higher than that. If I put the thumb-screws on anyone on this forum, I am sure that they can all procure a to-do list for Blizzard thatâs longer than a roll of toilet paper.
Just because some people enjoy PvP as it currently is, doesnât mean they donât see room for improvement.
Almost every single regular poster on the Arena forum has a post record that is overwhelmingly negative toward Blizzard and the game. People on the Arena forum rarely have much positive to say about PvP. I say this as someone who has posted here longer than anyone else.
If there are some who currently have something positive to say about PvP, then that just means they actually do have a preference and donât just hate everything. But having a preference â and that preference currently being Shadowlands as of now â does not make you a white knight.
Youâre a white knight when you speak positively about the state of the game ALL THE TIME.
Not many people here have done that.
So donât call them white knights.
On topic,
Of course Blizzard cares about Arena and PvP in general. The many changes theyâve made to PvP in Shadowlands â directly and indirectly â are evidence that they obviously do care. If they didnât care, then they wouldnât do anything, because thatâs easier. But theyâve actually done something. Thatâs why things are different. And different is good for some and bad for others.
Iâd also be careful with proclaiming that the future is doomed. Itâs rather clichĂ© for the PvP community to proclaim that the sky is fallingâŠbut this is too soon.
Weâre still in week 2 of Shadowlands. Nothing competitive has begun yet. The absence of balance changes does not translate to a complete abandonment from Blizzard. It just translates to a focus on bug fixes and other technical improvements which is perfectly normal. Once the grace period is over, then the focus shifts to balance and design improvements.
Weâve been through this process 7 times before, thereâs no need to proclaim the end of the world like some Nostradamus. We know how the process plays out.
Honest answer? Blizzard could not care less about any of you, all they care is about is taking your money and feeding you lies to sell you each expansion as they know you will buy it. Much, much better games out there, do not pay a monthly fee on a game that is broken, boring.
Fixed it for you. Itâs totally fine if we have different notions of white knighting.
I think the forum discussion experience is just the way it is.
People donât like to give ground, and nuance is a city in Russia. Youâre either for or against. Thatâs sort of the way the Arena Forum discussion operates â someone has to win and those in opposition have to be thwarted. Consensus and agreement is not really the pursuit.
That being saidâŠ
A thing worth keeping in mind when trying to argue that someone is wrong, is that feelings are never wrong.
If someone says they enjoy the game, then â despite however much you may want to â you cannot argue that they are wrong or that they donât.
Everyoneâs thoughts and feelings on the game are right and true for themselves.
What can be argued is whatâs best for the game and the players as a whole.
But this tendency to argue that someone is wrong for having certain thoughts and feelings on the game â positive or negative â that is futile.
People are entitled to have their own feelings and opinions about their own game experience. No one can ever be wrong about that.
Exactly, but this is what I am saying here⊠way too many users in this forum donât practice this philosophy when it comes to accept other peopleâs feelings about the game.
EDIT: Disagreeing is fine, censoring isnât.
Sure.
Welcome to the Arena Forum. Are you new here?
In other news, the sun is hot!
No, Iâm not new here. So am I not able to make an obvious remark even if itâs obvious? I like pointing this out every now and then as a way of indirectly telling that most people are bigots without having to name anyone. This probably wonât be the last time I write a comment that implies users here are selfish bigots so stay tuned.
Nah Iâm just humorously providing the obvious answer.
I mean, the criteria for success on the Arena Forum is this:
âWe managed to have a discussion without anyone insulting each other in the process. Yay!â
Thatâs the bar.
Anything above that is wishful thinking.
Fair point.
