Why gate crafting so many different ways?

  • artisan’s mettle, needed for buying recipes etc and a ton is needed for crafting tools.
  • spark of ingenuity is needed for any decent item, gated on a 2-weekly quest.
-primal chaos is sort of luck farmable but not great and you need a ton of it for weapons or sets of items.
-the upgrade items to get anywhere near heroic dungeon level/m0 are rare as unicorn poop.
    -specialisation points limited weekly.

I get the whole “can’t get as amazing as raid gear” position that Ion takes on everything, but this will make crafting nothing more than a joke to gear fresh alts in a month or 2.

to save the players from themself mate.

if gold were the only bottleneck people would also complain and call the game PAy to win.

i think the system is decent atm, good mix of many gear alternatives.

No, to keep them subbed longer.
This is the motivation behind every decision.

alot of players would feel “forced” to perma farm gold or literally buy tokens if it were the only bottleneck.

that’s utter nonsense for crafting, why would gold help with being able to grind more bop items instead of sitting on your bum or having to buy m+ runs to get gear?

Activision doesn’t care about this only revenue.
A lot of players felt forced to grind rares and wrathion rep first 2 weeks because there was nothing else to do.
A lot of players feel forced to do alot of stuff.

Sparks are gated because otherwise players who farm +10s 24/7 and have the gold could simply win over those who can only play X hours.

The official story behind timegated loot (like raids) is that they want groups with limited play time to have the same chances at progression as those who play all day.

I agree that having a good mixture of gear alternatives is nice. I wouldn’t go as far to call the system Decent.

There have certainly been some great improvements made to the crafting system. But there have been many many failings to it as well which has made the system incredibly frustrating to many of those who want to take it seriously.

i get what you are saying, but i disagree to use that point here.

they dont want you to be able to craft 418 gear in every pieces in literally 1 week.

sparks are done by a quest every 2 weeks, what do they have to do with +10s?

you need to get 10+ reagents from 11+ mythic dungeons to craft 405ilvl.-
and then 10 reagents from 16+ mythic dungeons to craft 418.

Sparks are for crafting the epic in each slot and 11+ for farming primal infusion that gets it to 405.

and? the whole idea is to be able to make stuff, not maybe a single 2 hander every month…

its ment to supplement your gearing.

from raiding, mythic+, crafting, vault and valor upgrading.

crafting is not ment ot stand alone

The whole idea of the current profession system is bad luck protection/bonus loot whose rewards are based on the content you can run (as it’s tied to the upgrade items mentioned above).
If you could grind and buy a full set in a week, it would be trash.

i thought it was ment for people who prefer open world play…but i guess that’s just another broken promise by ion for dragonflight then?

but why do you want high level gear if you only care about open world ?

a goal? something to do, you know, improve…

Why do you want high level gear from raiding if you can do it with the gear you came in with?

I’m happy things are gated because then I will run out of things to do and stuffing myself into raids and m+ is not my dream.

You can get a full 382 set without setting foot in a raid or dungeon, and primal storms reward…385 I believe, and a full set with open world bonuses.

Progression players look at loot as a tool for progression. We detest players who just want loot for the “shinies” because they’re the first to quit once they’re geared up. Obviously that applies to players within our own ranks.
