We've been living in the same world for quite a while. How come none put the effort to learn the language of the other faction?
How can a Night elf understand a Dwarf and vice versa.
How can an Undead understand a Tauren.
it would be fun to implement an achievement or a specific context where Horde & Alliance players can talk with each other.
want to know your opinion.
at least i know what kek means
Just roll a panda or DH or Velf/Belf.
For some reason they're all allowed to talk cross-faction while the rest are not.

i had no idea this was a thing!
To be fair, we have all been living in the same world in real life. Most people can't speak more than 1 language either.

How come varian wrynn in the ending mop cutscene understood what voljin was saying?

/moo is all they need to understand
How come magni speaks to both. The little ice dwarf creep.
That’s because English is most countries second language. The OP has a point. I mean the horde and alliance story, they understand each other there so why not the players?14/11/2018 14:00Posted by ShebTo be fair, we have all been living in the same world in real life. what is it that you think you know again?
i want to say 'Hi' to a friendly Tauren when i meet him outside Thunder Bluff harvesting his farm, when i play my alli
Because a bunch of PvP pottymouths in Beta Vanilla couldn't help themselves but acted like little whelps.
In the Lore, everyone speaks Common. Everyone. I mean the entire Game is impossible if that was not the case. The Elves who taught the first Humans Magic, were talking Common. From those Mages came Aegwynn and as a result, Medivh. Without Medivh, there is no Dark Portal, No Orcish invasion, and No world of Warcraft.
So Jaina, Khadgar, Medivh, Aegwynn, the entire Human Mage class is impossible.
Why? Because the Elves who taught humans magic can only speak Thalassian and Orcish. No idea why that is, no one had seen or heard of an Orc for thousands of years, and no idea why a native race to Azeroth is somehow able to speak an Alien language, but not the Language they clearly are able to speak.
So, basically, Delete all Human and Forsaken Mages, NPC's and Characters, they make no sense.
It was basically kids swearing at each other, and sadly, Blizzard pandered to the kids, and set up the Language Barrier, despite it not existing in lore, and despite it being an archaic thing that the game doesn't need.
It stifles lore, it stifles RP, it stifles Faction Identity.
It has no positive factors..
It also makes the entire Game franchise impossible.

In Azeroth both factions have their own version of English.
You are also really nitpicking small details. You might as well ask why the game is in modern English and not in some Sims-like gibberish we can't understand. Obviously a lot of decisions are made for gameplay purposes and don't make much sense.
Italian families in the Godfather also speak English to each other for the exact same reason.
zug zug.....
Wouldn’t an easy solution be to automatically turn on faction specific language when entering into PvP and in the open world have it turned off?

What did you say about my mother ?!
i find it interesting if they made like a 'University feature' where you would have to undergo a specific questline in order to learn a specific language. For example, as a troll myself, i would choose to learn to speak Gnomish and if another Gnome character has choose to learn the Troll language we could be able to communicate.
that's just a simple idea.
Maybe the game doesnt need this but having the option to communicate when you put the effort on a specific achievement would be fun.
Imagine being ganged by the opposite faction in Azeroth and you could /say Hey mate leave me alone! then he would kill you. (the real scenario would be swearing, but that's another story)

I do like being able to express thanks or anger via /emotes , but some words that both sides can understand would work?
That way, you can't really flame each other, but at least understand a bit the other is trying to say.
I was in Dalaran on my Blizzard Bear and some Horde player was spamming like crazy at me. So to find out what on earth they were saying, I added them to friends on Battle.net and I was able to talk to them. Turned out to be a really friendly person who was a mount collector and was getting a kick out of my mount. So there are ways round the barrier, but I agree it be cool if there was some way in game to learn to understand the other fraction.

That's a very fun example.
Maybe another context in which players could communicate is the Tanaris AH.
Or even a Duel Challenge.
Being able to create a group of both Horde and Alliance in order to do a duel challenge.
just some random ideas.
