Ok so yesterday i got a msi GTX 1080 installed and I installed/updated it’s drivers to the latest and i have updated windows 10 on the latest version to.
But today when i entered wow i still could not see the DirectX 12 option(I only have the DirectX 11 option)
notes:
-I don’t have the ‘‘reshade’’ addon.
-I used the repair tools from Bnet and that didn’t change/fix anything.
-if you wanna tell me that DX11 is better …well idc I just want to see the option.
Are you using any overlay programs? Including Discord’s overlay if you have it enabled.
Are you running the game with compatibility mode for a previous version of Windows? You can see that by rightclicking the executable file of WoW and going to the properties.
nop i have discord overlay off and i checked the compatibility thing …it’s not set to be compatible with older version on window
edit: also i tried to disable all addons and restart wow and that didnt help.
Just in case, can you doublecheck the Discord overlay? I’ve seen cases where people thought they had it off but it had turned itself back on after an update, and I don’t know if you checked again or not.
Other than overlays or similar programs that alter the screen in some way, or the compatibility issue, can’t recall seeing anything that caused this I’m afraid.
well thx for your help but i have double check all that, and I made sure to run wow with nothing on but still the option to choose DX12 not there.
Itn’t it an option to use only wow.exe. I’ve been using it that way for a while.
Update:
-ok so that other day i tried to open wow without Bnet app but instead from the files using the wow.exe and now i can see the DX12 option.
-But when i go and open it from Bnet the option is gone.
-So i went back to the files and tried to open it from ‘‘World of Warcraft Launcher’’ and i didnt have the DX12 in there to but every time i open it from the wow.exe it works.
Fixes That I tried:
-I tried to go to wow setting in battle net and and change to directory to the file where ‘‘wow.exe’’ exist since ‘‘wow.exe’’ and ‘‘World of Warcraft Launcher’’ are not in the same file anymore but bnet didn’t accept this move and would only accept files where the Launcher is.
-I tried to delete the launcher file and that didn’t work ether.
So does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?? Cause I would rly love to be able to open wow from my Bnet and use DX12.
Try forcing it through command line argument. Here is how to do it: http://eu.battle.net/support/article/56554

Did you try to just re-install the battle.net application?
I had the same issue, and what I did was re-installing the battle.net application and then my d12 option was available.
