Why is blizz allowing boosting? I just had a 612ilvl hunter that did less damage than the tank throughout Ara kara +5… What is even more sad, he and his friend also failed mechanics on the boss multiple times, and after calling the hunter boosted, his friend kicked me out of the group… What wholesome people
Because “boosting” is also the act of getting help from friends. Without getting gold, or anything else from it really, of forming parties to play content with. Imagine if Blizzard said “you can’t get help from your friend that is considered boosting” WoW would be dead pretty fast!
If they disallowed it, they may have to rework parties or raids from the ground up. RMT boosting is ofcourse disallowed.
Saneko sums up the “boosting part” quite nicely. I will just add this:
+5 is the entry level keyrange, where mechanics start to matter. So it does make sense that they would fail at them, as they likely are still quite new to the dungeons. That aside, the hunters performance could simply be that the player is inexperienced, still learning or is simply one of those who never improve. That doesn’t change the fact that the ‘boostie’ got as much right playing this game as anyone else to partake in content and try to perform well within it.
Lets kick the can down the road on the whole ‘what is required in a PuG’ issue.
If you attack someone who is clearly struggling, you do deserve the kick out of the group. Simple as.
It would be different if you were in a premade team setup, where you all had agreed on certain goals and standards. Then you could critique their slack with all my consent and support. Yet, the social contract norm in WoW is simply to: Let be, let be forgotten. When you play with someone who plays badly.
You wont play with them again, likely you will never see them again. No need to knock them down - In 9/10 cases, the ones doing badly already know - and they are having their own mental struggles with it. In the end they are just trying to have fun in the game.
TLDR; Flames, don’t be a trogg about it. Go premade if you want to enforce ‘your standard’ on who to bring and what to expect.
