Why Is Botting/Multi-boxing allowed?

Hello

To be fair I know this has existed for ages now - but why is it allowed ? Is it approved by Blizzard ? Or simply illegal but people still manage to bypass Blizz’s security ?

I started thinking of this because of the current long queues, but even without them - Botting/Multi-boxing ruins the economy/resource availability and potentially overall gameplay experience.

If anyone with more knowledge on the topic can answer please.

Kind Regards,
Athorax

‘Multiboxing’ is “sort of” allowed.

You can play on as many accounts as you want at the same time, but you have to control all the characters individually; you’re no longer allowed to use software that enables all of your characters to respond to the same buttons.

Want to use 3 mages with Blizzard? You have to tab into each mage and press it yourself.

And botting isn’t allowed, period. Blizzard are just too slow at dealing with them though.

That’s just your tinfoil hat talking.

Thanks!

I see - so in a sense you get to Multi-box but you just pay blizzard more money. In a sense 3 accounts - I can put my 3 mages on follow command , invite them to party and do the job and get 3x rewards.

Interesting… and at the same time… probably one of the reason we’re experiencing high queues.

Clearing a dungeon with 3 mages gives you the same reward as clearing the dungeon with one.

Since the multiboxing software was banned, I’ve only ever seen one person multiboxing. And I’m on Gehennas, one of the high pop realms.

I know people are currently angry and frustrated, but at least be frustrated at the right thing and stop trying to blame things on different enemies.

Never thought you’d approve botting Dottie

Hehe remember multiboxing from the old days. It was kinda cool, mostly 5 elemental shamans in arena (thats where I saw multiboxing anyway).

Obviously the trick was to fear em around and stun a few so they became harder to control for the multiboxer.

Some guy reached a reasonable rating with 4x ele and one resto druid to heal em all up. It was said he controlled them all. Maybe true.

Well to be fair with you On fresh realms - I’ve seen at least 12 instances of 3-4-5 people following 1 guy behind so maybe it’s not a full scale problem but neither you nor me can tell how many people are doing it so there’s a chance that might be affecting queues.

And true - the total outcome of the reward might be set for each dungeon. But it’s different when you share it with 4 more individuals compared to you getting ‘‘ALL’’ of it at an earlier level. Not to mention the experience those leveling characters are getting. That’s a huge advantage for a fresh realm. If you have desire for more than 1 char you can also invest into 5 different accounts and have 5 different chars. The silver/gold from each quest then you can trade to your main… It’s totally profitable

I was talking about the poster above my post saying “Because they also a pay a subscription.”

Well tbh when the botting is as obvious as the video below then i kind also see what he means
Blizzard needs to act a lot quicker than they are doing

Even encountered a DK bot in Hellfire last night, reported them and yet they’re still online levelling (and yet if i name and shame them I am the one that gets in trouble

It makes me sick
