Why not haste/crit? More haste means more auto attacks, more auto attacks mean more rage and more rage means more damage, right?
More mastery also means more damage.
Haste is good for arms up to a point, then it lose value compared to crit and mastery.
Haste also lose value when there is movement so it’s better to hit hard during the windows you can.
Your abilities also have a short cooldown so you can only use them so often before you are spamming Slam to dump rage.
Unlike most of Fury’s abilities only Mortal Strike’s cd is lowered by haste aswell.
Haste would be good to be able to spam Execute but at that phase you will most likely have Bloodlust anyway.
I might be wrong though but that seems like the most likely reasons.
Crit/Mastery is prio at the moment* because Arm’s crit in addition to crit damage also overlaps with haste in regards of auto-attack frequency and rage increase.
Mastery gives more damage from main abilities through Deep Wound.
Haste fluctuates with Crit and it’s only special feature is GCD reduction.
- This stat prio is only temporary and will change presumably during next patch or so when our stats get scaled up with gear, where Haste and Crit will swap priority. Unless blizzard is changing things that affects the scaling of secondary stats that is.

Actually it’s strenght > crit > haste = mastery = vers.
This being said, only simming on raid bots can provide the right answer.
Yeah this is true.
I play Fury. Haste is the best stat for fury, but now that I’ve hit 32% haste it dropped to the bottom. If I change anything that causes my haste to go below 32% it becomes my best stat again. But at the moment its mastery>verse>crit>>haste
So always sim your characters, stat priority is mostly for when you start gearing a new character. It gets more complicated as you gain more secondary stats from higher ilvl.
From what I remember from S1, it was Haste/Mastery for Fury, and Haste/Crit for arms, I think the same applies today.
Keep in mind certain builds benefit a lot more from crit. Kyrian arms for example, if you also pick rend, and the new leggo. You will have +25% crit damage during spear and +10% crit damage from rend, therefore crit will increase in damage because of said modifiers. That might change the stats value compared to other covenants/talent builds.
Pretty sure most of the world first raiders were running crit/mastery
Crit/mastery is indeed the recommended stats by Wowhead. I have no clue which sources the others have for their stat suggestions.
if i remember right, if you get close to 25%, haste that stat can sim highest as with 25% you can fit 1 more attack in your colossus smash window. But reaching that requires a lot of gear pieces with haste and in a boss fight you might not even be able to do that extra hit in the CS window.
I’m not sure if having windfury buff also changes the preference
Haste will become the best stat when we get to that point in scaling, but right now crit (special for Arms) also have some haste features that makes it overall better.
It’s not as important to squeeze in that extra GDC in the Colossus smash I believe.
Since we have Enduring Blow legendary combined with Mortal Combo conduit.
Your CS uptime should be very high already.
But Haste does also reduce the cd on Mortal Strike, so with the buff to MS together with the legendary and conduit I could see Haste rising pretty quickly when Crit is getting hit by diminishing returns too much.
But ultimately the two priority stats are like the bread and cheese of a pizza, good on its own but if you want it to be great you gotta put some toppings on it.
yes you forced to run frost shard set.
they ware using crit mastery because they all used an ench shaman for windufury most of us dont have an ench shaman in guild…for example in my guild we got 2 elemental, i dont have acces to windfury so haste because more important for me… i need like 20% haste then i can stak mastery. also the trinket from silvanas gives lots of haste. if i had the trinket would go more for mastery… it depends …
