My Levling Experience goes from 2 to -10 whenever I get Dire Maul, yes I am aware Dire Maul is Classic, and it used to be where people geared up, yes I am aware and played when 1 person had to loot the Key to the door, and some usually left to troll, but jesus, 40-60 is hella boring, it’s torture to levl, and Dung is alright sometimes, but why does Dire Maul makes me wanna scream whenever I get it…anyone else?
And here I was all set for Classic and now you remind me of the hours to be spent in that place.
Isnt so bad in the end. Maraudon when not splitted was ages worse
Personally I find little more boring than the BfA dungeons. Oh how they feel like a slog.
Nothing worse than temple of sethraliss.
I don’t know, why does Dire Maul make you want to scream?
I actually like all 3 Dire Maul instances, along with both Stratholme ones, even more so after 7.3.5
Dire Maul and Strath have this is common, they’re both long winded, heavily packed with easily pulled patrolling trash and contain annoying mechanics.
The Ogre part of Dire Maul is the worst, then the tree/ghost area, then the plants/demons.
Strath is just long, it often takes my groups 45 to an hour to complete it. The trash is just too damage spongy and you can’t interrupt ranged mobs without pulling extra packs.
If I run either of those dungeons and there aren’t quests to do, I will honestly just leave. Give me any other dungeon, just not either of those two.
I actually love and enjoy the long classic instances and honestly wish people still did Brd the old way. Don’t see the problem and never had trouble clearing it or levelling in it.
Time, it is all about time and getting done quickly.
Fond memories of leveling from 48-58 in bc, felt like an eternity and same for 66-70.
Probably because it was designed in 2004, and Blizzard has changed their way of designing since then. They made dungeons very grand and huge, as can be seen with Dire maul, and they weren’t that experienced with what makes a good dungeon yet. You can see that modern dungeons are way more compact.
I feel the same as you about Dire Maul. I get that it’s nostalgic since it came from classic, but in current wow it’s pretty terrible.
The mobs hit hard (Ogre side), the quests don’t give that much experience either. Not to mention it’s a very huge dungeon, navigating your way through to the last boss on all 3 sides takes forever. Especially if you wipe and have to run back again…
They should just allow mounting inside the dungeon to make navigating it abit faster atleast kinda like Zul’Farrak.
And maybe increase the experience from the quests there to make it worth your time, instead of being a slogfest.
I get that feeling in Wailing Caverns already, esp now it scales up to 60 it feels like it takes hours.
BRD, Lower and Upper Blackrock were great dungeons back in the day. I remember farming that place for the Arcanite Reaper recipe for daaaaaays. Love that whole friggin mountain ^^
How is temple bad after the nerfs? :o
Maybe thats how you feel, but back then they werent liked that much. Most people prefered dungeons split into short wings like Scarlet Monastery, thats why Blizzard went with that model later. Thats why they went with 4 dungeons Auchindoun, 4 dungeons Tempest Keep, 3 dungeon Hellfire,3 dungeons Zangar.
In britian an informal way to say something is of poor quality is to call it ‘dire’.
So the dungeon basically names itself.
I think you should check the definition of a dungeon and how it is supposed to be in an rpg.
Dungeons aren’t supposed to be this late 5 men scenarios with rush rush rush, dungeons are supposed to be explored, with mini events everywhere and closed paths that you should open by activating mechanisms and other similar ways to pass, which was being done in classic dungeons, or atleast attempts in some dungeons, blizz were still new with it.
In bfa, the only place that look somehow like a dungeon is Waycrest Manor, everything else is a one way race to the finish line.
I read some of the replies in here and it says pretty much everything about how people expect everything for no effort and minimal time input.
You and I might have seen these dungeons lots of times but what about the player experiencing them for the first time?
Just having to fart near a pack of mobs to kill it teaches new(er) players nothing about the game and their class, if you really don’t like a dungeon or two dont queue random, pick the ones you want to do
Or maybe… Just maybe, people don’t find the dungeon fun.
I remember the first time, I remember hating it, just as much as I do now. Except now, I know that a DK’s ghoul isn’t a tanking pet.
Every mob being a literal damage sponge teaches them nothing either. Many specs are bad enough at low level, having them also in long engagement mob fights doesn’t help.
In doing that you lose out on 55k bonus rep for queuing for randoms.
