Why is Frost mages damage 30% below everyone else on warcraftlogs?

Why is Frost mages damage 30% below everyone else on warcraftlogs???

Our spec still has shadowlands damage, check warcraftlogs

We have community of 1000+ mages who will all quit if this does not change very very soon.

Because Mages suck, as they always have. Everyone knows Warlocks are much cooler.

Been here since day 1 of wow.

Mages did not suck in early wow, they were in fact fun and the class descirption was glass cannon that can do massive damage.

Fast forward to today, clealry some dev somewhere hates mages and loves melee and huntards.

Cause in dragonflight they are not a real dps class, they are a joke vending machine with a int buff and portals.

Mages are just here for Pepsi and Portals. This is the way.

I just checked MMO and we got buffed 15-20%. Ty for fast actions blizzard.

2/10. Maybe 3 if I’m feeling generous.

because you play arcane atm…you have 3 dmg speccs

The arcane situation is outrageous. There are apparently people who love it, and good on them, but I really gotta say that this has got to be the most insanely complicated rotation of all time. Nothing comes close. It’s almost like an entire raid boss - from the perspective of all roles I might add - unto itself. I know because I was a raid leader and had to keep track of everyone else’s stuff as well.

It literally has 5 phases (burn, small-burn, ramp, conserve mana, conserve stacks with frostbolts), and somewhere between 7 to 25 steps in each, expressed in some cases as priority lists and in other cases as cast sequences. And then it’s got every single one of those bar the last one in an AoE version as well, meaning we functionally have 9 different rotations in theory.

And we still gotta fight the boss. This more often than not turns arcane from its complicated state into basically winging it and then somehow untangling it all later to do a proper theoretical setup again cause you gotta delay and stagger things outside the rotation as to align with boss timers.

And I didn’t even get into on-use items like trinkets and pots or defensives or utilities though those things are within the parameters of any other class; however their complexities explode when interacting with this rotation.

The gearing is likewise completely convoluted. There really is no best stat, so the best way through it all is to simulate CONSTANTLY.

WoW has never had anything like this. The infamous MoP warlock and WotLK John F’ing Madden feral druid have nothing on this. It’s absolute madness and I’m really annoyed at how weak frost and fire is because it’s effectively forcing me into this pile of incomprehensible crap.

A friend of mine linked me this earlier today:

(Reverse lookup revealed it to be from Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/zmvc7n/every_mage_in_dragonflight_right_now/)

You know what, let’s not take it away, but let’s also make something else viable, alright? This is ridiculous.

This is why i abandoned mages 3 exp ago

Coming 21st December:

Merry Chrismas.

But yeh, I’m still preparing switching to Arcane, cos this probably won’t be enough.

I’ve been on fire since February 2008 and I’m still smoking hot. Not literally. Maybe a bit.

because you might have to play 1 of the other 2 specs that take turns being fotm?

ah the horror

Uff. I had fun with fire and frost. Since i dony play arcane cuz is boring, yes.

What? Do you really play dragonflight and think that devs even think about them in any positive way?

Arcane is something else man. I don’t mind giving up 5% or maybe even 10% theoretical DPS to avoid it - it lets me focus my limited brain on actually fighting the enemies. It can be fotm and still not be the spec for me, that’s fine.

If you haven’t tried it, and don’t want to take me at my word above, you really have no idea what we’re dealing with. This rotation is just… on another planet, and as you can probably see from these buffs, frost isn’t 5% behind - it’s like 30% behind. It’s pretty much unplayable - it feels like you just dinged while being in 370 gear.

Loves warlocks*
TBF: I think the problem with mage is, that the class is too old → It needs a gameplay rework, so it’s 1stly easier to balance (less prone to being broken in high end gameplay, if abilities are slightly buffed), and 2ndly the class feels clunky too. The fantasy is cool and all, but the core gameplay is way too clunky, and it doesn’t feel smooth enough.

Looking forward to the buffs on 21st, frost is a joke rn. I’m getting outdps’ed by people 10ilvls below me.
